Who You Are
The Test Technician – Battery Testing is responsible for conducting performance, safety, reliability, and environmental testing on batteries and battery-powered systems. This role supports engineering and product development teams by setting up test equipment, executing test plans, collecting and analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a safe laboratory environment. The technician ensures that all testing is performed according to established procedures, industry standards, and quality requirements.
What You'll Do
- Set up, operate, and monitor battery testing equipment and data acquisition systems.
- Perform electrical, environmental, mechanical, and lifecycle testing on batteries, battery packs, and energy storage systems.
- Execute test procedures according to engineering specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Record, organize, and maintain accurate test data and documentation.
- Analyze test results and prepare reports summarizing findings and observations.
- Troubleshoot test equipment, fixtures, instrumentation, and battery systems.
- Perform battery characterization, charge/discharge cycling, capacity testing, and performance validation.
- Monitor battery safety during testing and respond appropriately to abnormal conditions.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and applicable industry standards.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
- Support root cause investigations of battery failures and performance issues.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality personnel, and project teams to meet testing objectives.
- Maintain test logs, inventory, and laboratory organization.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of experience in laboratory testing, battery testing, electronics testing, or related technical work.
- Knowledge of battery technologies such as Lithium-Ion.
- Experience using electrical test equipment including:
- Multimeters
- Power supplies
- Data acquisition systems
- Battery cyclers
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and test procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with battery safety standards such as UL, IEC, SAE, or UN38.3.
- Understanding of environmental testing including temperature, vibration, and thermal
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move equipment and batteries up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in laboratory and testing environments for extended periods.

What We Offer
Salary Range: $40,000 – $60,000 annually, based on experience.
