Job Description:

The Planning Implementation Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end planning workstream required to enable a successful separation and transition process across demand planning, supply planning, and inventory planning. This role defines the planning operating model, governance, data requirements, process handoffs, transition risks, and readiness activities needed to ensure business continuity, product availability, service stability, and inventory control throughout separation, cutover, go-live, and stabilization. The position acts as the single point of accountability for planning readiness, cross-functional alignment, and execution discipline across markets, platforms, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the identification, documentation, and validation of planning requirements across demand, supply, inventory, master data, reporting, systems, and cross-functional handoffs needed to support the separation and transition process.

• Define the future-state planning operating model, including roles and responsibilities, decision rights, governance forums, planning calendars, escalation paths, and interfaces with Commercial, Finance, Customer Service, Deliver, Manufacturing/Suppliers, Quality, Regulatory, and IT.

• Establish demand planning readiness, ensuring baseline forecasts, customer and market assumptions, tender and promotion inputs, launch/discontinuation plans, and exception management routines are clearly documented and aligned before transition.

• Define and coordinate supply planning requirements, including supply continuity assumptions, supplier or source dependencies, lead times, allocation rules, constrained supply scenarios, replenishment parameters, and transition inventory coverage by market, platform, and product family.

• Lead inventory planning work, including inventory entitlement, safety stock strategy, excess and obsolete risk assessment, stock transfer logic, inventory segmentation, cutover stock builds, and post-go-live inventory stabilization controls.

• Build the integrated planning implementation plan covering process design, data cleansing, planning parameter setup, system readiness, scenario testing, user acceptance testing, training, cutover preparation, go-live, and hypercare stabilization.

• Coordinate cross-functional planning decisions and dependencies to ensure the transition protects service levels, avoids stockouts, limits excess inventory, and maintains clear visibility of risks and trade-offs.

• Lead scenario planning and mitigation actions for transition risks such as demand volatility, constrained supply, data migration gaps, planning system issues, supplier delays, market allocation conflicts, and inventory imbalances.

• Ensure all planning processes, master data, assumptions, and transition decisions are properly documented, approved, and compliant with internal quality, regulatory, financial, and governance requirements.

• Partner with country, regional, and global teams to secure knowledge transfer, role clarity, training completion, cutover sign-off, and post-transition stabilization for all planning activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.

• Experience leading or supporting demand planning, supply planning, inventory planning, S&OP/IBP, or planning transformation initiatives.

• Demonstrated capability in cross-functional project management, transition planning, governance execution, risk management, and stakeholder alignment.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate demand, supply, and inventory data into decisions, scenarios, risks, and executive-level recommendations.

• Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, pharma, or healthcare, with understanding of quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements impacting planning and product availability.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes.
