Key Responsibilities
Position will report to the Director of EHS responsible for operations in California and Oregon. Position will work closely with site management in RD&E and other EHS staff to drive environmental programs, ensure regulatory compliance and promote continuous improvement.
Manage and direct the activities of the EH&S and assigned staff aligning with Global program. Coach, mentor and supervise EH&S team to implement the EH&S management systems to minimize the risks to employees, customers, and the environment.
Supervises direct reports in their assigned activities with specific responsibility for staffing, technical leadership within the group, staff professional/managerial/ leadership skills and career development.
Responsible for the program management of the health and safety function for the Applied Materials’ RD&E operations in California and Oregon.
Review and report environmental, health and safety progress and performance for assigned site/function based on established EH&S metrics to site management. Maintain communication channel with site/location functions.
Ensures proper investigations of accident / incidents conducted for EH&S events and drives corrective actions.
Track and ensure compliance with EH&S-related legislation (i.e., health and safety, fire code and building codes, standards, and regulations) and take appropriate action to comply with requirements.
Performs a wide range of health and safety compliance duties including equipment and facility permitting, compliance auditing, management of change approvals including chemical authorization and point-of-use abatement, record keeping and reporting, liaison with the local authorities
Lead EHS auditing and performance monitoring activities, including conducting audits, inspections, and management reviews; tracking leading and lagging performance indicators; and preparing reports and presentations for senior leadership.
Managed contractor safety and project support activities, including evaluating contractor compliance, integrating EHS requirements into equipment and facility projects, and overseeing the implementation of safe work practices for high-risk operations.
Represent the company in interactions with regulatory authorities, external technical experts, consultants, and professional organizations, as appropriate, while supporting timely and effective responses to regulatory inquiries or inspections.
Support emergency preparedness and response capabilities for events involving chemical, physical, or other occupational hazards.
Promote a proactive and prevention-focused safety culture, encouraging employee engagement, management accountability, early identification of hazards, and integration of occupational health and safety considerations into business decisions.
Ensures that specific projects assigned to staff are completed to meet EH&S goals.
Provides management with updates and escalation on projects/programs.
Provide technical guidance on health and safety issues to the site engineering organizations and contribute to the development of site-wide EH&S standards and procedures.
Develops, monitors, and controls the budget for EH&S operations.
Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
Experience:
8-15+ years of EHS experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Knowledge: OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.

YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
