SUMMARY
The Front-End Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the front-end operations of the can-making manufacturing process, ensuring production efficiency, quality, and safety. This role involves leading a team, optimizing processes, and maintaining equipment to meet production targets while adhering to company policies and industry regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and mentor front-end production staff, including technicians and machine operators, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide training to enhance skill development.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of front-end equipment, including cupping, body-making, and trimming machines.
- Monitor production metrics and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and minimize waste.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to implement corrective actions for defects.
- Enforce safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment lifespan.
- Assist in planning and executing equipment upgrades and installations.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to improve machine performance.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive operational excellence.
- Prepare and present reports on production performance, downtime, and efficiency improvements.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to align production objectives with company goals.

Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered. The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in can making or metal packaging, along with prior supervisory or managerial experience.
Skills/Knowledge:
Strong technical expertise in can-making equipment, including cuppers, body makers, and trimmers, as well as familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery and automated production systems. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities are key, along with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills and a focus on continuous improvement are also critical for success in this role.
Computer Skills:
The ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, and internal software programs).
