Independent Domestic Violence Advisor

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Barnet to assist with the appointment of an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £24.02 - £33.32 per hour

Summary:

To provide high-quality, independent and trauma-informed support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse who are at risk of harm. The postholder will undertake comprehensive risk and needs assessments, develop and implement personalised safety and support plans, advocate for victims and survivors, and coordinate effective interventions with statutory and community-based services.

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist, independent and trauma-informed support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
• Undertake comprehensive assessments of risk, needs and protective factors using recognised tools such as DASH.
• Advocate for victims and survivors to ensure their views, wishes and needs are appropriately represented.
• Identify escalating risks and take timely action to protect victims, children and other vulnerable individuals.
• Attend and contribute to Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Adult and Families reviews and other relevant safeguarding meetings.

Qualification:

• Level 3 regulated qualification in supporting victims of domestic abuse, such as SafeLives IDVA training or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Relevant qualification or professional background in Social Care, Social Work, Safeguarding, Domestic Abuse or a related discipline.
• Training in domestic abuse risk assessment and safety planning, including DASH or an equivalent recognised framework.

Essentials:

• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience working in domestic abuse, safeguarding, social care, advocacy or a closely related specialist service.
• Experience of undertaking risk and needs assessments and developing effective safety and intervention plans.
• Demonstrable experience of working directly with victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

• You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
• You should have right to work in U.K
• This role requires an Enhanced DBS
