Specific Job Duties:
- To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace.
- To Understand the employee’s rights under the OSHA Act, EEOC, FLSA and do not allow for discrimination against any employee exercising their rights.
- Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.
- To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace including: training of new employees, reporting unsafe acts or conditions and correcting or commending health and safety performance.
- Ensure that all accidents or injuries are reported immediately and actively participate in the accident investigation and completion of all open action items.
- Have knowledge of general workplace health and safety in regards to the general public and visitors to Decostar.
- To lead, direct and follow Company health and safety objectives that provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar employees.
- As head of the Facilities Engineering Department, ensure that every member of the department provides the highest degree of customer satisfaction to the department’s customers. These customers include the Molding Department, Paint Department and all other members of the Decostar families.
- Provide leadership for the Facilities Engineering department to establish goals, objectives, priorities, performance metrics, roles and responsibilities.
- Guide and direct the activities of the Packaging Engineer/s, Manufacturing Engineer/s, Industrial Engineer/s, Tooling Engineer/s and Engineering Technician/s to ensure the department’s activities are in alignment with departmental objectives.
- Manage all facilities engineering related equipment and issues at Decostar.
- Develop and maintain departmental capital and expense budgets.
- Manage capital equipment installations as assigned by the General Manager and with concurrent approval from affected Department Managers.
- Develop relationships with suppliers and subcontracted service providers. Execute all capital expenditures within the exact guidelines of corporate capital and real estate approval procedures.
- Manage outsourced facility maintenance activities (HVAC, fire systems, grounds keeping, housekeeping, building repairs, HV electrical, other)
- Manage all facility utilities. Develop and implement policies, procedures, system modifications to minimize Decostar’s utility costs while maintaining/improving utility reliability and quality.
- Ensure all contractors comply with all applicable local, state, federal, OSHA, NFPA, EPA guidelines
- Participate as a cross functional member of continuous improvement teams as assigned to assist in improving the performance of the Molding and Paint Departments’ performance objectives.
- Participate as assigned to new product launch teams.
- Participate in the Decostar strategic planning process through the identification of capital equipment needs for the facility to support available capacity for new business and to improve costs for existing business. Identify the best available equipment options and develop bid packages for competitive quoting from a minimum of three (3) potential suppliers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required. Twelve years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.
Related Work Experience:
- Minimum five years technical experience in painting automotive exterior decorative plastics required.
- Demonstrated exceptional organizational, communication and people skills.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while standing, walking, or sitting for extended amounts of time.
- Managers must be able to walk up and down stairs frequently.
- Ability to lift up to15 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis is required.
- Be able to work near alcohols, solvent, paints, or plastic sanding dust.
- Work below the knees and above the shoulders will be required.
- Good vision at a close distance and the ability to distinguish color is required with or without the use of corrective lenses.
- This position requires the ability to hear alarms with or without the use of hearing aids.
