About the Team
The role forms part of APAC Global Regulatory Compliance and acts as the second line of defence for FIS payments products and services in India. The successful candidate will provide independent regulatory compliance advice, oversight, and challenge in line with the Global Compliance Playbook and applicable policies and standards.
What You Will Be Doing
- Monitor and interpret relevant Indian regulatory developments, including RBI, CERT-In, and applicable payment-system requirements, and assess their impact on FIS payments products and services.
- Advise business, product, technology, and legal stakeholders on regulatory obligations, compliant solutions, and appropriate controls while maintaining clear first-line and second-line accountability.
- Oversee regulatory change, regulatory mapping, compliance risk assessments, and reviews of new products, enhancements, and expansion into new jurisdictions.
- Monitor implementation plans and compliance issues, validate supporting evidence, challenge deficiencies, and escalate material or time-sensitive risks.
- Review compliance-related client communications, RFPs, due-diligence responses, and contractual provisions within the scope of second-line oversight.
- Support governance reporting, regulatory examinations, and stakeholder engagement in coordination with Regulatory Relations, Legal, and relevant compliance teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in applicable GRC systems and contribute to enhancements of the compliance framework.
- Escalate compliance matters requiring urgent or immediate attention to the Head of the APAC GRC team.
Specific Areas of Coverage
- Regulatory change management and horizon scanning
- Compliance risk assessments and regulatory inventory mapping, validation, and maintenance
- New product review, analysis, and approval
- Monitoring of implementation and remediation plans
- Compliance communications, issue notifications, and reporting
- Review of RFPs, RFIs, and contract amendments, including recommendations
- Interpretation and dissemination of regulations
- Responses to ad hoc regulatory queries from stakeholders

What You Bring
- Minimum 6–8 years of relevant professional experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, or the payments industry, with overall experience of 12–15 years or more.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Ability to interpret regulations in the context of payment-product functionality and operating models.
- Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Professional certifications in compliance, risk management, or payments would be an added advantage.
- Prior experience with India-based payments regulated entities, regulators, quasi-regulatory bodies, payment system operators, fintechs, payment aggregators, or card and payments processors is desirable.
