*Securian Financial Group’s internal position title is Product Owner Consultant.
Position Summary:
As the Product Owner you will lead the product vision and delivery for the Employee Benefits Solutions Financial Management Systems and Reinsurance capabilities. You will collaborate with multiple business stakeholders to deliver data and tools to perform financial analysis and deliver insights into the value of the products Securian provides. You will be empowered and accountable to drive outcomes through execution of business strategy, increasing operational efficiency, retiring legacy systems, and aligning tactical decisions with strategic architectural principles. This position requires someone who is passionate about understanding our customers, who can bring creative and bold new ideas to life, and who will deliver superior results consistently.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- In partnership with business and technology owners, create a compelling product vision, and develop and execute a product roadmap with a focus on measurable outcomes, while tracking and regularly sharing progress with stakeholders and the team.
- Define Product OKRs monitor and report on business and customer metrics/outcomes.
- Collaborate with teams across Employee Benefits Solutions, Enterprise Technology, Securian Business Services and Risk & Actuarial to elicit, analyze and understand needs, constraints, and risks, and align with organizational strategy and priorities.
- Engage and collaborate with the team and stakeholders to create and manage Agile artifacts (e.g. Product Roadmap, Backlog, Release Plan, etc.) and information needed for prioritization decision-making and regularly assesses features, costs, and impact to determine whether and when to proceed.
- Transform business objectives and product strategies, together with the needs of customers, into specific actionable requirements for technology teams.
- Drive day-to-day product management decisions by prioritizing and maintaining the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders.
- Cultivate and maintain an effective relationship with all stakeholders and help the business create requirements for changes/improvements.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years as a product owner with the ability to demonstrate realized business value and outcomes.
- Strategic thinker, analytical and results driven.
- Leadership skills to gain credibility, garner respect, guide the creation of a self-organizing team and be assertive with business priorities and opposing viewpoints while adhering to Agile concepts and principles.
- Working knowledge of Agile practices. Understands the fundamentals of iterative development, incremental delivery, backlog management, burn down metrics, velocity and task definition.
- Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills to connect and engage team, facilitate discussion, advocate for team and negotiate with business/corporate areas, mentor/coach team members, and resolve conflict.
- Solid analytical skills, creative problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work with minimal direction, flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, handle multiple issues simultaneously, and manage stressful situations.
- Strong knowledge of technical concepts and architectural principles to drive scalable solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with insurance products or employee benefits programs.
- Experience with financial and actuarial data and reporting.
#LI-Hybrid **This position will have a hybrid working arrangement, working in-office for a minimum of 3 days a week.**
