Post Title: Catering Assistant, Raheny Community Nursing Unit
Post Status: Permanent
Department: Catering Department in Raheny Community Nursing Unit
Location: St. Joseph’s Hospital Raheny and Affiliated Sites
Reports to: Catering Officer or other nominated Officer.
Salary: Appointment will be made on Catering Assistant salary scale (€36,407- €44,087) at a point in line with Government pay policy.
Hours of work: Full time 39 hours
Closing Date: 12 noon 11/08/2026

Position Summary: To assist with the preparation and delivery of a high standard food catering service within Beaumont Hospital including St Joseph’s Hospital Raheny and adherence to food safety legislation within the departments and other associated areas
Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
These duties and responsibilities are a reflection of the present service requirements and may be subject to review and amendment to meet the changing needs of the service. The post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post, which may be assigned from time to time, and to contribute to the development of the post while in office. This job description will be subject to review in the light of changing circumstances. It is not intended to be exhaustive but should be regarded as providing guidelines within which individuals work.
Selection Criteria: Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Qualifications
Mandatory:
1 Year of Catering work relevant experience
Level 1 Certificate in Food Hygiene/Catering
Desirable:
- Teamwork
- Food preparation, customer care
If an appointee has previously been employed in the Civil or Public Service and that appointee is entitled to or in receipt of a pension from the Civil or Public Service or where a Civil/ Public Service pension comes into payment during the appointee’s re-employment that pension will be subject to abatement in accordance with Section 52 of the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and other Provisions) Act 2012.
