Description
Heavy-Duty Tow Driver
$28–$37/hr + competitive commission | Earning potential up to $135,000/year
Behind the Wheel of Something That Matters
When a tractor-trailer jackknifes on the highway or a fleet vehicle breaks down at 2 AM, someone has to show up — calm, skilled, and ready to get the road moving again. That's you.
We're looking for an experienced Heavy-Duty Tow Driver to operate our wreckers, rollbacks, and recovery vehicles (26,000+ lbs GVWR). This isn't a job for someone who wants to coast — it's for a driver who takes pride in doing recovery work right, works well with a tight-knit dispatch team, and doesn't mind being the person people are relieved to see pull up.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing heavy-duty towing and roadside assistance, safely and professionally, under real time pressure
- Running scheduled heavy-duty towing/transport deliveries and pickups
- De-escalating and resolving customer issues on the spot
- Completing pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections
- Keeping accurate driver logs and trip sheets, submitted weekly
- Navigating by map and GPS, plotting routes, and following dispatch instructions
- Working closely with the dispatch team to keep jobs moving
- Following all safety procedures, traffic laws, and accident protocols
- Inspecting and maintaining company vehicles and equipment
- Documenting every job accurately in Tow Book
- Handling hazardous and non-hazardous material disposal as needed
- Keeping your truck clean, presentable, and road-ready
- Flagging any tractor/trailer/tanker issues to management immediately
What You Bring
- Valid CDL-A with doubles/triples endorsement
- Hazmat and tanker endorsements strongly preferred
- No automatic transmission restrictions
- Current DOT Medical Card and a clean driving record
- At least 2 years of commercial driving experience
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand tools
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication skills and the composure to work independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed
Schedule
Standard 40-hour week. Weekend availability is required, and this role includes on-call coverage — recovery calls don't wait for business hours.
What We Offer
- Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
- Life and Disability insurance
- AFLAC supplemental coverage
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off and holidays
