Responsibilities
Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Wadsworth Center’s Division of Infectious Diseases. The position will be part of a global health initiative. The project aims to improve vaccine access in low- and middle-income countries by replacing the traditional animal-based Kendrick potency test with a robust, non-animal in-vitro potency testing method for whole cell pertussis vaccines. The incumbent will prepare cell culture media; maintain myeloma cells; feed hybridomas routinely; screen hybdridoma supernatants by ELISA for reactivity against recombinant antigens; perform general laboratory maintenance; and other appropriate related duties.
This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center’s mission in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health®!
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in biological or chemical sciences or a related field; OR two years of experience performing tests and procedures in a laboratory or clinical setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in biomedical research related to infectious disease and/or immunology
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position expected to last 12 months from the date of hire. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
This position is fully onsite and does not allow telecommuting.
The incumbent in this position will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.

Work Location Expectations
