This hourly role follows the Scotts/Hawthorne step pay progression scale and typically starts at $28.55 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

Group Lead - CORD Distribution Center

The Warehouse Group Lead is responsible for organizing and assigning work for Warehouse Associates, providing training and support for daily activities, and ensuring all inbound and outbound movements are executed efficiently and with excellence. The Group Lead serves as the primary resource for troubleshooting issues and resolving problems related to process or equipment. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Organize and lead daily work activities, ensuring timely and efficient production.

  • Ensure adherence to Scott’s and CORD specific policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Train and develop distribution center associates, fostering a safe and productive workplace.

  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, ensuring quality and consistency.

  • Serve as an initial HR and payroll resource, upholding company policies and ethics. 

  • Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and technical proficiency.

  • Conduct daily shift meetings to present volume plans, align on goals, and discuss safety and other key priorities  in collaboration with leadership, EHS, and HR.

  • Maintain a consistent presence on the floor to assist associates, observe and document safety or policy violations, and provide real-time feedback (both productive and constructive).

  • Understand escalation processes for non-emergency and emergency issues, knowing whom to contact.

    • Monitor data within SAP and collaborate with the Warehouse Team to make adjustments. Report any inbound material shortages or discrepancies to all internal stakeholders. 

    • Prepare all necessary paperwork as it relates to creating orders, picking tickets, master BOL, supply and demand reports and return to vendor orders.

    • Ensure each team member has assignments and validates quality of work based on available volume.

    • Through leadership and organization, maintain the safety and cleanliness of the workspace.

    • Coordinate special orders for on time arrival. 

    • Train and enforce operating SOP’s/procedures and mentor associates.

    • Ensure a safe and organized work area

    • Work with vendors to resolve material quality issues

    • Utilize SAP to monitor daily execution, inventory and quality; make adjustments when required

    • Work with onsite third-party transportation companies, where applicable

    • Perform other duties as required


 

What you'll need to be successful:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

  • Ability to operate Material Handling equipment.

  • 3-5 years experience in Warehousing and/or Inventory Management.

  • Demonstrates leadership characteristics including good communication skills, initiative, teamwork, time management, strong individual contribution, and serving as a knowledgeable resource

  • Understanding of Scott’s policies, practices, and processes as they pertain to quality, safety, and maintaining a positive, harassment-free work environment.

  • Comfortable giving and receiving open feedback.

  • Proactive change agent with a strong sense of courage.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently, handle adverse situations and problem solve

  • Strong administrative and planning skills

  • Maintain high standard of confidentiality and integrity

  • Ability to adapt to flexible work schedule/hours including overtime and weekends.

  • Position entails prolonged and repetitive motion of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
