Job Description Summary
Are you a visionary who bridges the gap between software development and precision manufacturing? We are looking for a technical leader to drive the future of our factory floor. In this role, you will act as both an expert CNC programmer and a systems architect. You will own the technical health of our manufacturing software ecosystem—including DNC, TMAC, and NC Transform—while utilizing NX Open, GitHub, and the GE Vernova AI stack to automate processes and improve efficiency. You will define the "standard way" to program, build custom tools that simplify complex tasks, and serve as the subject matter expert for the entire CAD/CAM production chain. If you have a founder's mindset and want to make a lasting imprint on how we build the world’s energy technology, we want to hear from you.Job Description
What you’ll do
- System Development & Automation: Leverage NX Open (C++/Python/VB) and the GE Vernova AI stack to develop custom tools, interfaces, and automated workflows that eliminate manual bottlenecks and directly reduce NPI lead times and setup scrap.
- Version Control, Governance & Collaboration: Utilize GitHub for code management, collaborative development, and deployment of custom apps to ensure scalability and version integrity across the manufacturing team. Establish code review, testing, and lifecycle management practices for all custom CAD/CAM automation tools.
- Technical Strategy & Standardization:Define and implement enterprise-level standards and modular documentation for CAD/CAM operations, ensuring that the "easiest way" is the "standard way" and establishing scalable, institutionalized practices that outlast individual execution.
- Ecosystem Stewardship & Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the technical owner for our manufacturing software stack, including DNC management, TDM, NC Transform (NCT), OMP (On Machine Probing), and TMAC (Tool Monitoring Adaptive Control). Serve as the primary technical liaison to external software vendors and internal IT/Digital teams to align enterprise architecture and software roadmaps with factory needs.
- Post-Processor & Simulation Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert for NX Post Configurator and Post Builder, Vericut machine/controller builds, and licensing support.
- Team Enablement & Operational Excellence: Provide high-level CNC programming support (milling, turning, grinding) while establishing training frameworks and best-practice pathways to mentor, empower, and grow the programming team to operate independently.
- Innovation & Business Impact: Lead projects that integrate AI and emerging technologies to optimize tool life, machine throughput, and quality metrics to drive measurable improvements in factory efficiency and overall operational excellence.
- Work effectively as an individual and in a team-based environment in a matrixed organization.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate.
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree, or graduate of machining related Apprentice Program Apprentice Graduate in a machining related program with 5 years of experience in CNC machining [or] High School degree with 7 years of experience in CNC machining
- Minimum of 7 years of experience with a graphical based CAM software creating 3 and 4-axis CNC programs.
- 4+ years experience NX CAM Programming
What will make you stand out
- Systems Integration: Experience administering and troubleshooting DNC environments and integrating adaptive monitoring tools like TMAC or 3rd Wave Systems.
- Software Engineering Mindset: Experience with GitHub/Git workflow, modern API integration, software lifecycle governance, and leveraging AI/Machine Learning tools to solve manufacturing problems.
- Deep Technical Knowledge: Expert-level knowledge of 5-axis programming, post-processor debugging, and Vericut/simulation optimization.
- Complex Problem Solving: Experience with high-temperature superalloys, advanced machine kinematics, and diverse control systems (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and G&L).
- Technical Leadership & Influence: Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, lead change management, collaborate with cross-functional leadership, and elevate the capabilities of surrounding team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience creating 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC programs using Siemens NX
- Minimum of 3 year of experience with high-level machine tool controls including sub-routine(macro), Renishaw probing routine, and variable based programming, as well as CLM (closed loop machining)
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or Machine Tool Technology.
- Strong problem solving and organization skills, with above average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry.
- Knowledge of post-processor development and debugging, preferably NX Post Configurator.
- Experience using Vericut (preferred) or other CNC verification/machine simulation software.
- Experience with NX API and other software development tools (VB, python, etc.)
