Your responsibilities

• You design and shape central payment infrastructure, with a focus on scalable, future-proof solutions
• You analyze, conceptualize, and further develop e-payment solutions for the public sector
• You define end-to-end payment processes, including integration into domain systems, portals, and digital wallets
• You advise clients on selecting, integrating, and managing payment service providers (PSPs) and payment methods
• You contribute to the target architecture, including APIs, orchestration, and routing logic
• You ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., PSD2, ZAG, DORA, GDPR)
• You collaborate with key stakeholders across ministries, public authorities, IT providers, and PSPs
• You support pilot phases, rollout, and scaling of implemented solutions
• You provide functional guidance on payment architecture topics, such as wallet integration and emerging payment methods like RTP, Wero, and the digital euro

Your profile (must-have)

• Five or more years of experience in e-payment, payments, or financial services (e.g., PSP, bank, consultancy, or platform provider)
• Strong understanding of common payment methods: SEPA, instant payments, cards, wallets, and similar
• Experience with payment architectures, including orchestration, PSP integrations, and transaction management
• Solid knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as PSD2 and ZAG, ideally DORA as well
• Experience designing APIs and integration architectures
• Understanding of end-to-end payment processes, including clearing and settlement
• Familiarity with modern payment solutions such as Request-to-Pay, Wero, and the digital euro
• Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical concepts
• Fluent in German

Nice to have

• Experience in the public sector or GovTech projects
• Knowledge of platforms such as ePayBL or similar solutions
• Experience with digital identity solutions
• Understanding of ERP and financial systems and how they integrate into payment processes
• Experience building or operating platform-based solutions
• Basic understanding of cloud architectures and microservices
• Knowledge of agentic payments
