POSITION SUMMARY

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer, Agentic AI Platform to join and lead engineering efforts for Lumina, CVS Health's enterprise knowledge and agentic AI platform. The Senior Full Stack Engineer, Agentic AI Platform will provide both technical and people leadership while driving the evolution of a platform that delivers trusted, secure, and governed AI experiences across the enterprise. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, Agentic AI Platform, you will own the technical direction, architecture, scalability, and operational excellence of Lumina while leading a team of engineers and data scientists responsible for building and supporting the platform. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring active contribution to production code, architectural decision-making, code reviews, and engineering best practices, while simultaneously coaching and developing team members.

The Senior Full Stack Engineer, Agentic AI Platform will play a critical role in advancing agentic AI capabilities, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, enterprise search, knowledge ingestion, and AI governance. You will drive platform enhancements that improve retrieval quality, strengthen security and access controls, expand automation capabilities, and ensure the platform remains reliable, observable, and scalable as adoption accelerates across CVS Health.

This role spans the full technology stack, including Python-based services, agent orchestration frameworks, retrieval pipelines, containerized microservices, React-based user experiences, Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and enterprise integrations. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities and is passionate about building production-grade AI platforms that enable measurable business value. Success in this role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, expertise in agentic AI architectures, sound architectural judgment, continuous learning, and the ability to influence technical direction across engineering, product, security, and leadership organizations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and operation of Lumina's enterprise Agentic AI Platform, including agent orchestration, retrieval systems, MCP integrations, Python services, APIs, embedded agents, Slack and Microsoft Teams experiences, and React-based applications.
• Drive platform scalability, reliability, observability, and performance across Azure Kubernetes Service, CI/CD pipelines, OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Arize, security scanning, and incident response processes.
• Own enterprise knowledge ingestion and retrieval capabilities, including change data capture pipelines, content processing, vectorization, multimodal content handling, knowledge quality evaluation, source scoring, and retrieval optimization.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards for software development, testing, code reviews, documentation, production readiness, governance, credential management, access controls, and compliance requirements.
• Lead, coach, and develop engineers and data scientists through performance management, career development, goal setting, technical mentorship, stakeholder engagement, and partnership with product, security, compliance, and engineering teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of software engineering experience developing and supporting production applications, including Python-based services, distributed systems, and data-intensive platforms.
• 4+ years building cloud-native solutions on public cloud platforms, including Azure, Kubernetes, containerized microservices, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development, and modern DevOps practices.
• 3+ years developing full-stack applications utilizing JavaScript, React, API design, authentication, authorization, and enterprise identity solutions including SSO, OAuth2, OIDC, or Azure Entra ID.
• 2+ years delivering production AI/ML solutions utilizing large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, agent frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, enterprise-scale knowledge repositories, and MongoDB Atlas Vector Search or comparable vector database technologies.
• 1+ year supporting LangGraph-based multi-agent orchestration, tool routing, agent workflow design, MCP integrations, and production agentic AI platforms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams as a people manager, technical lead, or senior individual contributor, with accountability for technical outcomes, delivery execution, mentoring, and talent development.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• Experience building MCP servers, MCP clients, enterprise tool integrations, SaaS API-based automation platforms, and complex agentic workflows.
• Proficiency implementing retrieval governance, document-level security, group-based access controls, evaluation frameworks, retrieval metrics, model quality assessment methodologies, and AI observability tooling.
• Familiarity with Databricks, Delta Lake, BigQuery, natural language-to-SQL solutions, inference optimization, prompt engineering, model routing, caching strategies, and healthcare, pharmacy, or other regulated industry environments.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years of relevant experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$101,970.00 - $203,940.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
