Description
The Fabrication and Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily fabrication operations, coordinating material flow, managing shipping and receiving activities, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This position supervises fabrication and logistics personnel, coordinates with production and project teams, maintains inventory accuracy, ensures finished products and materials are properly prepared for delivery, schedules freight pickup and delivery, and ensures all associated transactions are complete in the ERP and related systems

Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise daily activities for the fabrication and logistics departments.
- Plan and assign work across fabrication and logistics based on project priorities.
- Review production schedules, drawings, work orders, and project requirements, with a focus on fabrication and logistics.
- Monitor production progress and adjust staffing and priorities as needed for the fabrication and logistics departments.
- Coordinate equipment, tools, materials, and manpower for the fabrication and logistics departments to meet production deadlines and shipping schedules.
- Ensure all equipment and tools in the fabrication and logistics departments are in working condition and have preventative maintenance schedules.
- Inspect incoming material at receiving for incorrect, incomplete and damaged receipts.
- Prepare finished product for delivery and schedule freight for pickup and delivery.
- Ensure all associated receiving and shipping transactions are complete in the ERP and related systems.
- File claim and follow up with freight companies, Vendors, Customers and Accounting in case of inbound and outbound freight damage.
Safety & Quality
- Enforce company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Ensure employees use all required PPE.
- Ensure employees follow proper operating procedures for fabrication equipment, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the fabrication and logistics areas.
- Inspect work areas, identify potential safety hazards, and report out on near-miss opportunities in fabrication and logistics areas.
- Ensure fabricated products meet company quality standards and project specifications.
- Maintain quality-control procedures throughout the fabrication and delivery process.
- Investigate production, quality, or shipping issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify production issues and implement solutions to minimize delays and waste.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain production, inventory, shipping, receiving, and delivery records.
- Prepare daily or weekly operational reports as required.
- Communicate project status, material needs, and potential delays to management.
- Assist with scheduling labor for fabrication and logistics areas.
- Assist in general building maintenance and repair, coordinating outside vendors as needed.
- Ensure preventative maintenance for compressors and other facility related equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce operating costs.
Work Environment
- Moderate to high noise levels due to operating machinery and equipment.
- Exposure to moving mechanical components and typical machine shop hazards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and move:
- Up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Up to 25 lbs frequently
- Up to 10 lbs continuously
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools and materials.
- Ability to bend, push, pull, and reach overhead as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fabrication, warehousing or manufacturing operations, including at least one year in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Working knowledge of common fabrication processes, including welding, machining, sheet metal and mechanical assembly.
- Strong understanding of material handling, shipping, and receiving processes.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, production drawings, and specifications.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory or production management systems preferred.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials as required by the position.
- Forklift certification or experience operating material-handling equipment preferred.
