We have an exciting opportunity for a Full-time, Personal Care Assistant to work in Longview, Christian Health’s North Jersey’s premier assisted living residence. Responsible for assisting residents with daily care in accordance with established nursing care procedures. Liaison to nursing staff for communication of and/or routing of clinical care concerns. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.

Competencies:

• Maintains an awareness of resident service plans and follows through by implementing care need changes promptly.
• Demonstrates an understanding of Assisted Living principles including Resident choice, privacy, independence, dignity in all interactions with Resident.
• Supervises and demonstrates pro-active care for resident on a daily basis.
• Assists residents with ambulation as needed. Advises nurse of concerns.
• Ensures that all care is provided in privacy and in a sensitive and a respectful manner.
• Provides assistance with showering and sponge bathing.
• Provides assistance with oral hygiene, shaving, hair care and make up.
• Assists with meal service, maintaining awareness of residents special diets/needs and assists as needed with dining.
• Demonstrates knowledge/use of standard precautions.
• Makes scheduled beds.
• Returns clean personal laundry to residents, takes care of residents' laundry and linen needs when necessary or when scheduled.
• Answers call bells promptly and courteously.
• Transports residents within facility as needed.
• Reports change in Resident status, behaviors and other concerns promptly to nurse.
• Performs minor housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain orderly/neat appearance of the facility.
• Documents accurately according to facility policy.
• Receives/transfers oral and written reports at change of shift.
• Demonstrates required clinical skill.
• Assists Activity Staff with daily activities (helps transport and/or encourages attendance, active assist when assigned.)

 

Experience: Experience not required.

 

Schedule:  Full-time, 7am -3pm.

• Week 1: Mon. 7am-3pm, Tues. 7am-3pm, Thurs. 7am-3pm, Fri. 7am-3pm, Sat. 7am-3pm
• Week 2: Sun. 7am-3pm, Mon. 7am-3pm, Wed. 7am-3pm, Thurs. 7am-3pm, Fri. 7am-3pm                         

Certification: Must have a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) certification in the State of New Jersey.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.

 

Qualifications:

• Must be experienced and knowledgeable in needs of geriatric residents.
• Must have experience in dealing with the elderly and providing daily support services such as bathing, dressing and general assistance. 
• Ability to provide organized, efficient, kind and engaging personal care.
• Team player. 
• Must have a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) certification in the State of New Jersey.
