We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $88,700 - $112,300. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. Principal Planner, IPT / Production Control (Integrated Product Team), you will play a critical role in the successful operations of the ship construction programs. You will work closely with Production and fellow Planning counterparts to ensure a successful POW is in place for operations to be executed. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Principal Planner, IPT / PC ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.
Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership:
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, with a focus on housekeeping and personal safety.
- Maintain schedules in a safe manner.
- Contribute to hull management safety initiatives.
Project Execution:
- Evaluate the 6-week POW for liens and predecessor and successor requirements.
- Work through fab and packaging liens ISO the POW schedule dates.
- Attend morning meetings and ship scheduling meetings as required.
- Work closely with the manager and trade leaders of the area assigned.
Training and Development:
- Identify and asses risks, issues, and conflicts that may impact schedules.
- Provide feedback and lessons learned to improve future hulls.
Team Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate across departments to ensure seamless communication of schedule, cost and labor impacts.
Continuous Improvement:
- Utilize the A3 methodology and BIW’s BOS to continually improve quality and results.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Project Management or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
Required/Preferred Experience
- 4+ years of experience in Planning, Project Management or Change Management, ideally in a manufacturing or shipbuilding environment required.
- 2+ years working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Macpac) required.
- Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, with proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively on cross-functional teams required.
- Excellent communication skill, both written and verbal required.
- Demonstrated ability to work multiple priorities simultaneously, and to completion required.
- Strong understanding of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MACPAC required.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and technical drawings preferred.
- Familiarity and proficiency with Smartsheet and MKA.
- Lean or Six Sigma certification a plus.
