The OST(Out of School Time) program at Belmont Charter, Belmont Academy, and Inquiry Charter provides comprehensive programming to keep students safe and help them succeed in school and life. Project-based learning, experiential learning, and service learning models allow student voice to increase while engaging their academic, enrichment, and social-emotional growth as well.
Summary:
The role of our Cheer Coach is to condition our team, model and teach required choreography, stunts, and skills needed for sideline cheering and cheer competitions. Coaches will be punctual daily to supervise and run practice, help hold students accountable for grades, attendance, and behavior, and maintain an environment and culture of teamwork. They will work closely with the Athletic Director and OST Director to plan competitions, travel to games, and performances.
The individual in this role must have a working knowledge of athletics and be extremely organized. The assistant coach for cheer is expected to work 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Game Days and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on practice days. Additional OST roles may be available between seasons. This is a seasonal role from September through March in the 23-24 School Year, and it will be paid biweekly.
Responsibilities
- Run day-to-day practices
- Supervise students throughout program time
- Coach during performances and competitions
- Maintain uniforms and control distribution and return
- Set up and maintain equipment
- Communicate with AD and Director for needs or issues
- Travel with team to all competitions and performances
- Monitor student athlete attendance and academics
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must familiarize themselves with the school’s athletic policy for after-school
- All employees must be able to provide Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
- Strong written and communication skills;
- Displays initiative and ability to follow through with vision and goals;
- Detail Oriented
- Enthusiasm for athletics
- Ability to work evenings until 6 PM/end of games and occasional weekends for competitions and needed practices
- Experience in tumbling, stunts, and/or pyramid division is a plus
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6:00 PM
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (or collegiate degree)
- Certification or degree in early childhood education is a plus
- Special enrichment certifications (teaching artist, educational, or vocational) is a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of child care experience within a child care facility or school-based program
- Two letters of recommendation
- Current CPR certification is preferred
- Mandated Reporter Certification is a plus
- All employees must be able to provide Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
