What you will do:
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides speech therapy treatment services to children ages 0-21 years as prescribed by a physician and implemented in accordance with a treatment plan established by the supervising Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP).

• Collaborate with administration and other disciplines involved in the child’s care to promote consistent and quality services for children and families.
• Provide therapy services to children of varying ages, abilities, and diagnoses based on the recommended number of units from evaluations and prescriptions under the supervision of a SLP.
• Provide therapy services in a variety of settings including home, daycare, schools, outpatient clinic, community, as well as other settings.
• Provide therapy services to children based on the recommended number of units from evaluations, prescriptions, and/or funding source approvals.
• Complete assigned treatment and duties under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
  • Complete a training plan aimed at assuring competency to conduct the tasks assigned.
  • The supervising SLP will provide both direct and indirect supervision and contact with each client every two weeks or as required.
  • The supervising SLP will be available to the SLP-A through face-to-face contact, phone, email, synchronous video communication, and/or other means of communication.
• Schedule children into caseload by contacting the parent/guardian.
• Provide documentation of all therapy services by locking and electronically signing weekly progress notes.
• Update schedule in deTASO or other software, as directed.
• Complete additional paperwork requirements in an accurate and timely manner as notified by administration. These requirements include, but are not limited to, Early Intervention paperwork (if needed).
• Be available to provide speech therapy services, attend meetings and conferences, and other related duties during the days and hours stipulated in the Team Member Handbook and Therapist Supplement.
• Be available to children and families to ensure continuity of care and proper management of treatment.
• Participate in all required meetings for professional development and growth.
• Participate in one-on-ones meeting with leader.
• Provide feedback to administration regarding ways to enhance continued improvement of the company.
• Respond positively to feedback concerning job performance.
• Participate in Multidisciplinary conferences as needed.
• Demonstrate continued growth in therapeutic skills through learning, knowledge, and application.

What you have:

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
• Must be able to work with children birth to age 21 and their families who are at risk.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of families or employees of organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.

 

Education/ Certification:

• Meets current state & ASHA requirements to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant by the team member’s state licensing board and credentialing sources.
• Must attain, maintain, and keep documentation for supervision and licensure requirements.

 

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to accurately communicate information and ideas so others will understand through sight and hearing. The employee is regularly required to move including walking, running, and sitting. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, lift, reach, and feel. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
