Staff RN - Per Diem - PreAdmission Testing

Job Summary:

This position is 100% Phone Calls

Mon - Fri, 8am-4:30pm No Weekends!

Under the supervision of the Unit Director, the RN performs patient care functions as approved by the State of Maine Board of Nursing and St. Joseph Hospital policies and procedures. The Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse will provide direct supervision for the shift that the RN is assigned to.

• Conduct preadmission telephone assessments with surgical patients to review medical history, current medications, allergies, and preoperative instructions to ensure readiness for surgery.
• Educate patients and caregivers on preoperative preparation requirements, including fasting guidelines, medication management, arrival times, and postoperative expectations while addressing questions or concerns.
• Collaborate with surgeons’ offices, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to communicate abnormal findings, obtain required documentation, and ensure all pre-surgical testing and clearances are completed prior to the procedure.

Requirements

Education: ASN required, BSN preferred

Experience: 1-3 years previous experience

License(s): Current Maine RN license or compact license

Certifications (s): BLS to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Comp Range:

$33.43 - $46.04
