Alfa Laval Ocean Division is looking for a Global Product & Application Expert, PureBallast.

Act as the global technical subject‑matter expert for Alfa Laval PureBallast ballast water treatment systems. You will deliver product expertise, application support and compliance guidance to global customers, shipyards, ship‑owners and classification societies. You will work closely with Sales, Product Management, R&D and Operation, playing a key role in complex customer journey.

Key responsibilities:

In your role you will

1. Global Product Technical Expertise

Act as the global subject-matter expert for PureBallast systems, including product structure, working principles, UV treatment technology, system configuration, technical parameters, and upgrade solutions. Maintain full awareness of product iteration, technical roadmaps, and global product specifications.

2. Professional Application & Project Support

Provide customized system application design, technical proposal optimization, and feasibility analysis for global marine projects. Support pre-sales technical communication, project bidding, technical clarification, and scheme matching according to vessel types, tonnage, voyage zones, and classification society requirements.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Verification

Track and interpret latest IMO ballast water management conventions, international maritime regulations, and major classification society rules. Verify product compliance with global certification requirements (USCG, IMO Type Approval, etc.) and guide project implementation to meet statutory discharge and treatment standards.

4. Global Sales & Stakeholder Empowerment

Deliver professional product training, application guidance, and case sharing for global sales teams, distributors, and partners. Resolve complex technical inquiries during project design, installation, commissioning, and operation phases to eliminate application risks.

5. Technical Problem Solving & Case Management

Troubleshoot cross-regional technical difficulties, abnormal system operation, and application mismatching issues. Summarize global project cases, technical risks, best practices, and feedback market demands to R&D and product management teams for continuous product optimization.

6. Documentation & Standardization Management

Compile, update, and standardize global PureBallast technical documents, application manuals, FAQs, and technical guidelines. Ensure unified global technical output and consistent application standards.

7. Industry & Competitor Analysis

Monitor global BWTS market trends, peer product technical routes, and industry policy updates. Provide professional analysis and suggestions for global product positioning, competitive strategies, and market promotion.

What you know 

We are expecting you to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in Marine Industry.
• Deep understanding of ballast water treatment technology, IMO conventions and marine classification rules. Prior BWTS product/application experience is preferred.
• Proven experience in global technical support, marine product application or international project delivery.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, ability to make independent technical judgements.
• Fluent English for cross‑cultural global collaboration.

Practicalities

The role will be based in Shanghai offices, reporting to the Manage in Shanghai.
