Job Description:
Job Description
- As an Embedded Solutions Engineer (ESE/FAE) specializing in FPGAs, you will apply your engineering expertise to solve clients’ technical challenges while identifying and developing new business. You will reframe how clients approach their designs, build consensus around Microchip’s solutions, and co-create value that gives them the freedom to innovate.
- At Microchip Technology, our values empower employees to grow and thrive in a supportive, collaborative, professional, and global work environment. We embrace change and continuous improvement for the mutual benefit of our team and our clients, and we are looking for like-minded people who share our passion for success.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with the Sales and Marketing teams to deliver pre-sales and post-sales technical support across every phase of a client’s adoption of Microchip FPGAs.
- Apply Microchip’s Client Engagement Process to convert design wins into revenue at targeted strategic clients.
- Lead client system-architecture discussions and design reviews, positioning Microchip to meet both the FPGA requirements and the companion ICs surrounding the FPGA.
- Serve as an authority across all phases of programmable-logic design, including requirements analysis, HDL development and simulation, embedded hard- and soft-processor system design, synthesis optimization, place-and-route constraints, timing closure, FPGA hardware development, and debug tools.
- Conduct architecture and board-level schematic reviews, provide design-in support, and deliver product training for customers.
- Support clients’ development processes that incorporate Microchip FPGA solutions, advancing each design from design-in through post-production.
- Collaborate within a global team to develop and execute account strategies for assigned clients across all regions.
- Communicate effectively with Microchip’s product divisions, providing quantifiable feedback and ROI on their investments in clients.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline (EEE, ECE, EIC, ETC, or VLSI) with a strong academic record.
- 5–7+ years of relevant experience in FPGA-based design or applications.
- In-depth experience with Microsemi/Microchip, Xilinx, or Altera FPGA devices, with deep knowledge of Verilog or VHDL.
- Hands-on experience with Libero, Vivado, or Quartus FPGA design software, along with synthesis and simulation EDA tools.
- Experience with high-speed serial transceivers and interfaces such as PCIe, DDR3/4, LPDDR3/4, and MIPI.
- Experience with embedded soft-core or ASIC-based CPUs (RISC-V or ARM architectures).
- Embedded processor experience with a working knowledge of C and Linux; familiarity with software debugging tools such as Keil, IAR, or Eclipse, and experience building and debugging customized Linux images, is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with hardware security concepts — such as secure boot, encryption and authentication, key management, and physically unclonable functions (PUFs) — and with Hardware Security Module (HSM)-based key provisioning is preferred.
- Creativity and initiative to identify clients’ technical needs, provide support on RTL blocks and FPGA-based designs, and introduce other Microchip solutions when appropriate.
- Ability to create content and deliver technical overviews, seminars, and workshops for clients and fellow ESEs/FAEs.
- Strong debugging skills, with the ability to investigate system-level issues and help clients identify the root cause.
- Ability to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously.
- Strategic and critical thinking — solve problems systematically, anticipate clients’ pain points, expectations, and implicit needs, and collaborate with team members to devise solutions to complex client challenges.
- Communication — tailor messaging to each client’s needs with authority, deliver effective presentations, and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ownership — take initiative, work independently, and drive relentlessly to complete tasks and achieve results.
