Software Engineer III

Job Summary:

The Software Engineer III is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of complex software applications and systems. This role leads technical solutions, contributes to system architecture, and ensures scalable, reliable, and high-performing systems.

Essential Functions:

• Lead technical design and architecture efforts for scalable, reliable, and high-availability systems.
• Lead adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices within the team, establishing effective patterns and mentoring engineers in their use.
• Design and implement AI-enabled and agentic solutions, including orchestration, integrations, context/retrieval patterns, and human oversight where appropriate.
• Engineer AI solutions for quality, observability, security, reliability, cost/performance, evaluation, and failure handling.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective system and application solutions.
• Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for applications, systems, and infrastructure.
• Execute and oversee performance testing, debugging, and optimization of systems and applications.
• Perform code reviews and enforce development standards, best practices, and coding methodologies.
• Lead or support deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of applications and systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, analysts, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
• Support incident management, triage complex issues, and implement timely and effective resolutions.
• Apply advanced knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD practices to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Design and implement system integrations, including applications, databases, and communication platforms.
• Identify technical risks and ensure solutions are scalable, adaptable, and aligned with organizational growth.
• Provide input into team objectives and mentor less experienced team members as needed.
• Adopt and effectively utilize agentic AI development tools to accelerate software delivery, improve quality, reduce manual effort, and increase engineering productivity throughout the SDLC.
• Continuously innovate by experimenting with new technologies, challenging existing processes, and creating scalable solutions that improve business value, engineer effectiveness, and customer experience.
• Perform any other job related duties as requested.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field required
• Equivalent years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of required education
• Five (5) years of experience in software development, engineering, or related technical field required
• Advanced experience with object-oriented programming (OOP), system design, and application development required
• Experience designing multi-tier or enterprise-level applications and systems preferred
• Experience in infrastructure, networking, or communication systems preferred

Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:

• Advanced proficiency with AI-assisted development tools, including prompt engineering and AI-assisted code review
• Understanding of AI/ML integration patterns, including APIs, model consumption, and data pipelines
• Strong knowledge of programming languages, frameworks, and software development tools
• Advanced understanding of system architecture, infrastructure, and integration concepts
• Expertise in SDLC methodologies, including Agile and CI/CD practices
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage complex technical assignments
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to mentor, guide, and influence team members
• Adaptability and continuous learning mindset with evolving technologies

Licensure and Certification:

• AI/ML or cloud AI certification (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud AI) preferred

Working Conditions:

• General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Travel is not typically required

Compensation Range:

$94,100.00 - $164,800.00

CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level. In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
