SHE Manager

A leading organisation is seeking a SHE Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across the Safety, Health and Environment function. The successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening SHE governance, ensuring regulatory and GMP compliance, improving occupational health and environmental performance, and embedding proactive risk management throughout the organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the organisation’s SHE strategy and management systems.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, environmental legislation, COIDA, GMP requirements and relevant company standards.
• Maintain and manage ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Lead SHE audits, regulatory inspections, risk assessments and management reviews.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and environmental events, conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Oversee occupational health programmes, medical surveillance, employee wellness initiatives and IOD administration.
• Manage environmental compliance relating to waste, emissions, water, energy, permits and licences.
• Drive contractor safety, chemical safety and behavioural safety programmes.
• Manage emergency response planning, evacuation drills, fire prevention and business continuity initiatives.
• Develop and deliver SHE training and ensure legal appointments and competency requirements remain current.
• Lead, coach and develop the SHE team while promoting accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Monitor SHE performance, reporting, analytics and departmental budgets.

Requirements:

• Degree or National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Risk Management or a related field.
• Registration with Saiosh or an equivalent professional body.
• Minimum 8–10 years’ SHE experience within a manufacturing, FMCG or pharmaceutical environment.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a SHE management role.
• Proven experience managing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
• Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, environmental legislation, COIDA and IOD administration.
• Experience with occupational health programmes, GMP requirements and environmental compliance.
• Demonstrated experience managing regulatory inspections and audits.
• Strong capability in risk assessment, incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of chemical safety, contractor safety, emergency preparedness and business continuity.
• Strong leadership, reporting, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
