Torch Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a team (creating, developing, providing, working with complex integrated systems, software architecture upgrades, and cybersecurity engineering solutions.). This position supports the (Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC Prototype Integration Facility (PIF)) 

 

As a Senior Software Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Architecting, debugging, and maintaining software systems and complex configurations across multiple rapid-prototyping defense projects. 

  • Executing duties as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) or cybersecurity technical lead to ensure systems maintain continuous compliance. 

  • Conducting automated vulnerability scans, applying system hardening protocols, and managing compliance databases to maintain strict Authority to Operate (ATO) certifications. 

  • Modernizing deployment strategies to simplify software updates, configuration management (CM), and system patches for fielded equipment. 

  • Delivering tier-3 customer support and technical troubleshooting for integrated software and hardware systems deployed in the field. 

  • Performing advanced market research to identify, evaluate, and recommend new software tools and hardware components for legacy tech insertion and replacement efforts. 

  • Collaborating with Government Project Leads (GPLs) and senior leaders to support in Statements of Work (SOWs), draft technical specifications, and build cost-estimation presentations. 

 

Required Qualifications:   

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. 8+ years of direct, progressive software engineering experience within a DoW or defense aerospace environment.  OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. 10 +years of direct, progressive software engineering experience within a DoW or defense aerospace environment. 

  • Secret security clearance is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level.

  • Any additional requirements for position (limit this to only those that are specifically required-nice to haves should be listed in preferred qualifications section) Demonstrated, hands-on experience executing cybersecurity vulnerability scans, implementing system hardening protocols, and drafting technical/security compliance documentation. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Security+ Certification (or equivalent IAT Level II certification). 

  • Hands-on experience with Virtualization and Virtual Machine platforms (e.g., VMware, ESXi). 

  • Cross-platform proficiency across Linux, Windows, and Mac Operating Systems. 

  • Core programming capabilities in C+ or C#. 

  • Proficiency in automated scripting languages (e.g., Batch, Python, or PowerShell). 

  • Strong networking background including configuration and deployment of complex local networks using Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise hardware. 

  • Familiarity with tactical defense simulation and visualization suites (e.g., MUSE, MetaVR, ViPRS, VAMPIRE, or similar platforms). 

  • Background in industrial electronics, including experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Relay Logic, and industrial electrical systems. 

  • Experience utilizing National Instruments Measurement Studio software or comparable test/measurement instrumentation tools. 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in authoring, managing, and tracing technical requirements. 

  • Strong track record of drafting comprehensive test procedures, test reports, and technical documentation. 

  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and hands-on technician skills combined with a strong customer-facing support mentality. 

  • Experience with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) engineering, integration, or flight operations. 

  • Demonstrated team leadership or project management skills in a collaborative team environment.
