Description

The City of Cedar Rapids is looking for an experienced and motivated Water Pollution Control (WPC) Electrical, Instrumentation, & HVAC Supervisor to lead the electrical, instrumentation, controls, and HVAC functions that support the City's water pollution control operations. This is a key supervisory role responsible for maintaining the systems and equipment that keeps our facilities operation safety, efficiently, and reliably every day.

About this Opportunity
Responsible for all maintenance aspects related to process instrumentation, automation processes, electrical and metering equipment, Steam system, HVAC, and plant on-site and off-site communications.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the installation, maintenance and repair of process instrumentation, computer control systems, automation processes, electrical and communication equipment, Steam and HVAC
  • Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains programmable logic controllers, new and existing process control systems, and electrical systems
  • Performs routine maintenance and emergency electrical repair and HVAC maintenance in plant and outlying lift stations; maintains and verifies temporary power systems and generators
  • Coordinates planned and scheduled work and ensures it is completed accurately in accordance with the job plan, safety requirements, and quality standards 
  • Works with engineering on WPC improvement projects by reviewing design documents and supporting proper selection of treatment and control equipment
  • Coordinates with construction and maintenance contractors to resolve field questions and support maintenance needs
  • Inspects and maintains equipment and tools; performs ongoing maintenance and provides safety training
  • Develops scope and specifications for the personal gas monitoring lease program and low and medium voltage maintenance programs
  • Acquires quotes, orders materials, accessories, and parts for completion of projects/repairs of equipment
  • Coordinates the workgroups daily coordination meeting to align priorities, resources, and schedules
  • Approves leave requests and tracks time accordingly
  • Performs related work as required
Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalency and
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in industrial instrumentation, steam drum operations and/or distribution systems or
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
Required Licenses or Certifications
  •  Valid Driver’s License
Desired Qualifications
  • Grade 1 Iowa wastewater treatment license
Work Schedule
  • Monday - Friday 6:30am to 3:30pm
