Sr UX Product DesignerReq ID:

About the Role & Team
Technology plays a critical role in bringing stories to life across The Walt Disney Studios. The Studio Technology Design team partners with filmmakers, artists, production teams, and technologists to create enterprise software that powers every stage of the filmmaking process. We design thoughtful, intuitive products that simplify complex workflows, enable creativity, and help teams do their best work.
Our team is made up of Product Designers and Visual Designers who care deeply about design craft, systems thinking, storytelling, and collaboration. We believe enterprise software should be as intuitive, polished, and inspiring as the creative work it supports.
Summary
The Studio Technology Design team is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help shape the next generation of internal tools that power filmmaking across The Walt Disney Studios. You’ll work across a portfolio of enterprise products used by artists, production teams, and studio operations, partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to solve complex workflow challenges.
As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll independently lead projects from discovery through delivery, applying systems thinking, strong UX craft, and exceptional visual design skills to create intuitive, scalable experiences. You’ll contribute to our design system, influence product direction, and help raise the quality bar across our design practice.
The right person for this role is curious, collaborative, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. You enjoy simplifying complex problems, communicating ideas through compelling storytelling, and embracing emerging technologies, including AI, to improve both the products we build and the way we design them.
What You’ll Do
- Lead end-to-end product design across multiple enterprise applications, from discovery through implementation.
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to define product strategy, identify opportunities, and deliver user-centered solutions.
- Design intuitive, desktop-first experiences that simplify complex enterprise workflows while balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
- Plan and conduct user research activities, including interviews, workflow analysis, and usability testing, translating insights into actionable design decisions.
- Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes to communicate concepts, validate ideas, and support implementation.
- Contribute to and evolve our design system, ensuring consistency, accessibility, scalability, and a high standard of visual quality across products.
- Explore opportunities to leverage AI within enterprise products and continuously improve design workflows through emerging tools and technologies.
- Present design work clearly and confidently to stakeholders and leadership through compelling storytelling, rationale, and demonstrations.
- Facilitate collaborative workshops, design critiques, and cross-functional design discussions.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of craft, attention to detail, and execution.
- Stay informed on evolving design practices, AI capabilities, and technology trends, bringing new ideas back to the team.
- Identify opportunities to improve design processes, collaboration, and overall product quality.
What To Bring
- Must have 5+ years of experience designing digital products.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design across complex software products.
- Experience designing enterprise or B2B software applications.
- Strong systems thinking and the ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive user experiences.
- Excellent interaction, information architecture, and visual design skills.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and design thinking practices.
- Experience planning and conducting user research and usability testing.
- Experience contributing to or building scalable design systems.
- Must have advanced proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and AI-assisted prototyping tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions to cross-functional partners and leadership.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and transforming complex production workflows into intuitive, human-centered experiences.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Self-motivated with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience leveraging AI-powered design, research, and productivity tools to enhance design workflows is strongly preferred.
- You’re a fantastic communicator!
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Visual Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Additional Information
This role is based in our Glendale, CA office and follows a hybrid work model. Team members are expected to work on-site 3–4 days per week. Remote candidates are not eligible for this position.
Application Requirements
CV and portfolio are required. Your portfolio may be submitted as a public or password-protected website, or as a file attached to your application. Regardless of format, a portfolio is required for consideration.
Required Experience:
We are seeking candidates with a strong background in product design and UX/UI. Experience primarily focused on marketing or campaign design, brand design, illustration, or industrial product design will not be considered sufficient on its own. These disciplines may complement a product design portfolio but should not represent the candidate’s primary experience.
Enterprise Product Experience
We are looking for designers with experience designing enterprise, desktop-first web applications. Candidates whose portfolios are primarily focused on consumer mobile applications are unlikely to be a strong fit for this role.
Visual Design Craft
We value designers with strong visual design skills who can create polished, thoughtful interfaces while maintaining consistency across products through scalable design systems. A high level of attention to typography, layout, hierarchy, interaction design, and overall craft is expected.
Educational Background
The institution from which a candidate received their degree or certifications will not influence our evaluation process. We evaluate candidates based on their portfolio, design thinking, problem-solving ability, and overall product design craft.
AI-Assisted Prototyping
Experience using AI-assisted prototyping and development tools (such as Claude, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate design exploration, prototyping, and iteration is considered a plus.
Why Join Us
Design at The Walt Disney Studios is about more than making products functional—it’s about making work itself more meaningful. We’re building a unified design language that transforms how people across the company experience tools, data, and collaboration.
Here, you’ll:
- Shape the future of enterprise design. Your work will influence how thousands of people work every day.
- Design at scale. Move beyond individual screens to craft systems and patterns that unify experiences across platforms.
- Be part of something bigger. We believe the future of work depends on design that is clear, human, and deeply connected.
This is a chance to take on big, complex problems and design solutions that will define how people connect with technology to fuel boundless storytelling.
The hiring range for this position in Glendale is $ $129,300.00 - $159,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
