The listed minimum pay reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview

The Hospital Billing Staff Intern functions within an academy-style environment, balancing didactic instruction with hands-on technical system training. This role is expected to develop and sustain a foundational command of revenue cycle management and hospital billing protocols. Note: Candidates hired into this role MUST be able to commit to twelve (12) weeks of full-time training Monday through Friday with a total of 40 hours per week. 100% attendance is required at all classes and clinical assignments; make-ups will be permitted for a maximum of 16 hours of class time for emergency purposes only with NO EXCEPTIONS.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School graduate or GED

Experience: Prior billing experience is preferred

Other Credentials:


Knowledge and Skills: Basic computer skills

Special Training:

Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to balance coursework, clinical assignments and departmental needs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Read, understand and remember technical instructions, billing rules and office procedures
Remain fully engaged and participate in all hands-on practice sessions and group activities
Maintain an 80% average or higher throughout the internship; employees in this role MUST have a passing grade by the midterm to continue the program and take the final exam
Complete all classwork and homework assignments on time and follow all classroom and company policies
Use any downtime to help with department needs or to catch up on personal training and education
Perform other duties as assigned
