About this role 

Provides accounting and reporting advice to wide range of stakeholders in Diageo finance community, participate in building and providing accounting training agenda, support the debate with the auditors on certain group issues, lead the reporting aspects of other group projects.

Supports the group financial reporting function with the preparation and review of the Group’s Annual report, Red book, Press release, and statutory filings (20-F, 6-K). Handles resolution of complex accounting standards.

Expected to participate in or lead projects that has impact on the group accounts. Compliance with policies and controls need to be ensured.

You will be responsible for: 

This role supports the accurate and timely reporting of external financial statements and reports by:

  • Advising a wide range of collaborators in the finance community on financial statement preparation and disclosure issues

  • Supporting the creation and maintenance of accounting capability program

  • Preparation of accounting papers to support Diageo’s accounting treatment in accounting issues. Taking ownership for such issues and working with markets to drive and achieve the best outcome for Diageo.

  • Preparation and review of Group annual report, Press release, 20-F and 6-K with particular focus on compliance with IFRS and other external reporting obligations.

  • Coordination of the activities of the Financial Reporting team in

    • Monitoring the accuracy of the reporting received from the business and communicating errors and improvement opportunities

    • Preparation of internal and external financial reporting documents

    • Regional support for group accounting questions:

      • Monitors compliance with existing group accounting policies and update it for new accounting standards and interpretations. Communicate to the wider finance community through technical accounting update training or equivalent

      • Engage with markets ensure they are fully compliant. Provide support for market issues/initiatives

      • Good business partnering with markets and senior stakeholder to ensure timely reporting and technical issue resolution

      • Liaison with group auditors for the interim, annual and Sox audits.

About you

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA is an advantage.

  • 5+ years of strong financial accounting experience, including significant experience in IFRS reporting.

  • Experience in preparing statutory accounts in accordance with IFRS and relevant accounting standards is beneficial.

  • Experience working in a multinational finance environment across different commercial and cultural markets.

  • Strong analytical skills, with capacity to understand the broader business context and identify key business drivers.

  • Good understanding of Diageo processes and applications.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to clearly articulate ideas and convey accounting topics in a concise and easily understandable way.

  • Ability to engage and motivate stakeholders and drive effective solutions.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, accompanied by a willingness to learn individual and team priorities and working effectively towards shared goals.

  • Excellent business English, strong drafting skills, a self-motivated and accountable mentality, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining precision, integrity, and a constructive challenging approach.
