A Day In The Life

The Manager, HR is responsible for leading HR functions for an assigned client group within USAL, ensuring effective associate engagement, business partnership, and compliance with federal and state employment and transportation regulations across the organization, in partnership with members of the USAL HR team.  This role serves as a key partner to business leaders and the Director of HR, providing guidance and operational leadership to support workforce needs and HR initiatives. They also partner with leadership and the TFG Organizational Development team to drive workforce planning, training, engagement and retention initiatives aligned with business goals, while demonstrating consistent commitment to Our Values.

 

 

As a Manager, Human Resources you will:

  • Manage HR business partnership functions within assigned client group
  • Manage and deliver data-driven organizational insights in support of day-to-day operations and future planning
  • In partnership with the Safety team, ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and federal/state employment regulations, including driver qualification, hours-of-service, drug/alcohol testing requirements, and participating in USAL’s safety panel.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and programs that promote consistency, compliance, and employee engagement.
  • Advise management on employee relations issues, performance management, and disciplinary actions while maintaining confidentiality and fairness.
  • Manage compensation, benefits, and payroll processes in partnership with finance and TFG Payroll to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support leadership with workforce planning, organizational structure, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate training and development programs to promote safety, compliance, professional growth and upskilling across all departments.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee and driver records, ensuring readiness for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Conduct and oversee workplace investigations and ensure appropriate resolution of employee concerns or grievances.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of Title VII, ADA and EEOC Laws to assist the assigned locations in reaching their business goals.
  • Responsibilities also include sponsoring, managing, coordinating, and supporting project and process improvement teams across USAL.

 

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university; Pref
  • 5-8 years Human Resources experience, with an emphasis in employee relations and talent acquisition, or an equivalent mix of education and experience Required
  • Solid competencies in the use of Human Resources management systems (ADP preferred), Time and Attendance (Kronos preferred), databases, and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Travel requirement for this position will be 30% travel in assigned region.
  • Demonstrate initiative, leadership and interpersonal influence.
  • Possess understanding of various time and attendance procedures (Kronos experience preferred)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of core human resources disciplines with emphasis on administration, employment and associate relations and their application in a variety of business settings.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations that affect TFC and its businesses.
  • Demonstrate well rounded communication skills including excellent writing, presentation, discussion, interviewing, coaching, counseling and team interaction skills.
  • Possess a strong process orientation to review and revise HR processes. Ability to research and analyze data pertaining to HR processes and establish tracking mediums for measurement and/or compliance.
  • Demonstrate an orientation toward process management, shared services, and accountability and values based culture.
  • Demonstrate ability to facilitate others, work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize work. Well organized and able to work independently.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to, promote, manage and support change.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage full life-cycle recruitment.
  • Ability to apply common sense.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Professional Human Resources (PHR) Preferred or
  • SHRM-SCP Preferred

Physical and Environmental RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.
