About the Opportunity
A well-established public accounting firm in the Milwaukee area is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join its growing team. This is an opportunity for a tax professional who wants meaningful client interaction, continued technical development, and a long-term career path within a collaborative accounting environment.
The position offers a hybrid work arrangement and exposure to a diverse range of privately held businesses and individual clients. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced accounting and tax professionals while taking increasing ownership of client engagements.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals and privately held businesses.
- Assist with tax planning, projections, and identifying opportunities that benefit clients.
- Support compilation and review engagements and gain exposure to financial reporting.
- Research tax issues and assist with resolving notices and other client matters.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and serve as a responsive resource for day-to-day questions.
- Take ownership of assigned engagements and help ensure work is accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable standards.
- Collaborate with senior team members on more complex tax and accounting matters.
- Contribute to the development and training of less-experienced team members.
- Participate in professional networking, recruiting, and community activities as opportunities arise.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of public accounting tax experience.
- CPA certification or active progress toward obtaining the CPA.
- Strong foundation in individual and business taxation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and sound professional judgment.
- A client-service mindset and interest in building long-term professional relationships.
- Experience with tax and accounting software; familiarity with CCH Axcess or similar platforms is helpful.
