Your Team

The Clearing Operations team, part of Market Operations, is responsible for the day-to-day clearing, settlement, margin and collateral management activities that underpin ASX's financial market infrastructure. The team supports market participants, manages critical operational processes and contributes to the safe, efficient and resilient operation of Australia's clearing and settlement services.

Your responsibilities

  • Understand and operate the ASX’s clearing and settlement systems including Calypso, Genium, DCS/MCM, Austraclear, Markitwire and internal ASX clearing & settlement applications.
  • Understand cleared derivatives product and process the full product cycle of exchange traded and over the counter contracts – listing, expiries and settlements 
  • Complete all clearing operational tasks following all procedures and checklists 
  • Support ASX treasury team in settling deals and being proactive with investment counterparties 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce operational risk, enhance the customer experience and develop technical change 
  • Review and implement corporate actions adjustments on ETO products 
  • Engage and service a diverse range of stakeholders inclusive of clearing participants, investment counterparties, and ASX regulators 
  • Manage stakeholder queries ensuring alignment with the ASX Customer Communication Principles

Your experience and qualifications

Must have

  • One to two years’ experience in a clearing, settlement, treasury operations, custody, securities services, or financial markets operations environment. 
  • Strong understanding of margining frameworks and cash settlement processes across cleared products.  
  • Analytical experience involving the investigation of issues and problems, identifying and documenting solutions. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of exchange-traded and cleared OTC derivatives, with a strong understanding of product lifecycles from trade capture through to expiry and settlement. 
  • Streamlined processes and tasks to reduce operational risk and increase efficiency 
  • Strong Operational risk and control discipline

Nice to have

  • Experience with Austraclear, Calypso, SWIFT or similar market infrastructure platforms.
  • Knowledge of Collateral Management, margining and settlement operations. 
  • Knowledge of Australian fixed income and repo markets.
  • SQL Knowledge & Macro (excel) knowledge
  • Ability to work effectively in deadline driven operational environments.
