Description
Hearth Installation Crew Member
Adams Stove Company - Adams, MA
Wood Pellet & Gas Stoves • Fireplaces • Inserts
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Hearth Installation Crew Member to join our three-person installation team. This is a hands-on position working directly with our Lead Installer/Working Foreman to install wood pellet and gas stoves, fireplaces, inserts, venting systems, and related hearth products in customers' homes.
You do not need to be an expert installer when you start. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, willing to learn, and takes pride in doing quality work.
What You'll Do:
- Work as part of a small installation crew.
- Assist with installation of pellet and gas stoves, fireplaces, and inserts.
- Assist with venting and chimney installations.
- Move and position heavy appliances and materials.
- Use hand and power tools.
- Perform demolition, framing, cutting, drilling, fastening, and other installation tasks.
- Prepare jobsites and protect customers' homes during installation.
- Clean and organize the jobsite throughout the installation.
- Follow directions from the Working Foreman.
- Learn proper installation methods, manufacturer requirements, and safety procedures.
- Help troubleshoot problems and develop your construction skills.
- Represent the company professionally in customers' homes.
What We're Looking For: The right person is:
- Dependable and shows up ready to work.
- Comfortable doing physical work and lifting heavy materials.
- Mechanically inclined and good with tools.
- Able to follow instructions carefully.
- Willing to learn new skills.
- Comfortable working on ladders, roofs, and in tight spaces when required.
- Safety-conscious.
- Detail-oriented and takes pride in workmanship.
- Able to work respectfully in customers' homes.
- A good team player.
- Interested in developing a career in the hearth and installation trade.
Experience:
- Construction, carpentry, HVAC, chimney, roofing, masonry, plumbing, electrical, or other skilled-trade experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate.
- Experience with hand and power tools is a plus.
- We are especially interested in candidates who have demonstrated that they can learn a trade, take direction, work hard, and become increasingly skilled and independent.
What This Job Is Like:
- This is not a job where you stand around waiting for someone to tell you what to do.
- You'll be working alongside an experienced installer and will be expected to stay engaged, learn the work, and contribute to getting each installation completed.
- The work can be physically demanding. You may be moving heavy appliances, carrying materials, climbing ladders, working outdoors, kneeling, drilling, cutting, and working in attics, basements, crawl spaces, or other challenging areas.
- In return, you'll learn a specialized trade and have the opportunity to develop from a crew member into a skilled installer.
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation.
- Dependable attendance.
- Ability to pass a background check, if required.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
- Professional attitude when working in customers' homes.
Compensation:
- $24–$30/hour, depending on experience and mechanical/construction skills.
Opportunity for advancement and increased responsibility as your installation skills develop.
If you're someone who likes working with your hands, enjoys learning how things work, and wants to build a career in a specialized trade, we'd like to hear from you.
