Description
Under the direction of and reporting to the Maintenance Manager, The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the timely completion of mechanical and electrical tasks, as well as preventative maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and repairs on production equipment and facility systems. This role supports equipment installations, follows preventive maintenance schedules, and documents work orders. This position is required to maintain parts inventory and contributes to overall facility safety and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on production machinery, support equipment, and facility systems.
- Complete work orders and document maintenance activities in the maintenance system.
- Assist with equipment moves, installations, and upgrades to support production needs.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules and help develop/update related work instructions.
- Support equipment improvement projects
- Work with contractors and skilled trades on assigned projects.
- Conduct basic safety checks, participate in safety training, and follow all safety procedures.
- Maintain parts inventory by tracking usage and reporting needs.
- Help keep the maintenance shop organized, clean, and functional.
- Participate in facility upkeep, general repairs, and grounds-related tasks as needed.
- Work weekends, as required.
- Assist on special projects such as installing air systems, upgrading machinery, or supporting equipment rebuilds.
- Perform all skills and abilities associated with the Maintenance Utility Technician and Maintenance Technician I positions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3-4 years of experience in the electrical/mechanical field.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including technical aptitude and time management skills.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new equipment and systems.
- Ability to read work instructions, follow procedures, and document completed work.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding and knowledge of common hand and power tools.
- Intermediate welding, machining, and fabrication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work well individually and in a team environment.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
