Description

Under general supervision performs work of routine nature for set up of PCs, peripherals, network components, and other equipment as required and performs related work as assigned.

This is a temporary position ending 12/31/2026.

Work Arrangement: This is an in-office position working 19 hours/week

Background Requirement: This position will require the successful completion of a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprint and background clearance within 90 days of employment; this must be maintained throughout employment.

  • Provides telephone, remote, and in-person technology support to County employees while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Creates and updates support tickets, documents work performed and escalates issues to appropriate IT staff when additional assistance is needed.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of computers, software, printers, peripherals, and related technology equipment.
  • Assists with the setup, configuration, deployment, and replacement of computers and peripherals following established IT procedures.
  • Installs approved end-user software and assists employees with basic use of County technology.
  • Assists with IT asset management activities, including inventory, equipment tracking, deployment, collection, and decommissioning.
  • Maintains accurate records, inventories, logs, and other documentation.
  • Works collaboratively with Service Delivery and other IT staff to support customer needs.

Essential functions include but are not limited to: sitting and performing repetitive hand and wrist motions for data analysis and computer work; working with other staff and county departments; working effectively in a remote office environment; and communicating in both routine conversation and technical presentationsHigh school diploma or GED and one year of experience in the computer technical support field or any equivalent combination of education training or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. 

This position is non-exempt from overtime.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous customer service or technical support experience.
• Experience using an IT help desk or ticketing system.
• Experience setting up, deploying, or supporting computers and peripherals.
• Experience with computer inventory or asset tracking.
• Interest in developing additional skills and experience in Information Technology.

Working knowledge of:

  • Basic computer hardware, printers, and common peripherals.
  • Current computer operating systems and commonly used software applications.
  • Basic customer service principles.

Skill in:

  • Providing professional and responsive customer service.
  • Performing basic computer troubleshooting.
  • Organizing work and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Learning and following established technical procedures

Ability to:

  • Perform basic troubleshooting of computer hardware and software and recognize when an issue should be escalated.
  • Learn new technologies, applications, and IT support processes.
  • Follow verbal and written technical instructions.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Work effectively with employees with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Work safely and promote a culture of workplace safety.
