Shift / Work Schedule: Day Shift (Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM | 8 Hours/Day, 40 Hours/Week).
Weekend & Call Requirements: Call required every other week (Monday–Friday 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM; Saturday–Sunday 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM).
Position Overview & Clinical Scope:
An acute care hospital in mid-Michigan is seeking a Temporary Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic nuclear imaging procedures. Operating under general supervision, the technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, operates nuclear scanning equipment, practices radiation safety, and captures high-quality diagnostic images according to established regulatory and facility standards.
Core Responsibilities & Technical Duties:
- Diagnostic Nuclear Imaging: Conduct specialized nuclear medicine studies; measure, prepare, and administer radioactive isotopes and prescribed substances within scope of practice.
- Patient Care & History: Obtain patient histories, explain procedural protocols, address patient concerns, and ensure patient safety throughout imaging.
- Equipment Maintenance & QA: Operate, calibrate, and maintain nuclear scanning equipment; execute routine daily, weekly, and monthly quality assurance function checks.
- Radiation Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict radiation protection practices for patients, staff, and self in full compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), federal, state, and local nuclear regulations.
- Documentation & Logistics: Maintain precise logs, charts, and electronic records; manage consumable inventory and assist in other radiology service areas as assigned.
Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements:
Education & Certifications:
- Education: Graduation from an AMA-approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology [REQUIRED].
- Primary Certification: Active registration/certification in Nuclear Medicine via ARRT (N) or NMTCB [REQUIRED].
- Life Support: Active BLS Certification [REQUIRED].
