Maintenance Worker - Temporary Position

TEMPORARY POSITION: APPROXIMATELY OCTOBER - FEBRUARY
*$2,500 BONUS PROGRAM

 The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Performs a wide variety of basic labor, unskilled, and semiskilled laboring tasks in the construction, repair, cleaning, and maintenance of District facilities, including canals, ditches, pipelines, pumps, structures, tanks, towers, and related facilities.
2. Inspects facilities for needed cleaning, repair, and maintenance, including crawling, climbing, and entering a variety of facilities and structures.
3. Mixes and prepares materials utilized in the cleaning, repair, and maintenance of District facilities.
4. Performs confined space entry safety watches.
5. Performs rough and finishing cement work; applies spray concrete.
6. Digs trenches.
7. Uses jackhammer to break through compacted soil or concrete.
8. Lays pipelines, caulks joints, cuts and fits pipes, backfills trenches, and performs other tasks incidental to repair and maintenance.
9. When assigned to Pest Control Applicator function, uses pesticides for weed abatement and pest control; prepares regular reports on pesticides; maintains records.
10. May perform equipment or vehicle repair or maintenance; operates a variety of hand tools, vehicles, and power-driven construction equipment to perform assigned tasks.
11. May perform minor repair of fiber modules or other treatment plant equipment when assigned to the Water Treatment Plant.
12. May maintain construction, repair, inspection, cleaning, and maintenance records.
13. May be assigned to locate and mark District facilities for contractors and work crews.
14. May assist in weed spraying and burning operations and ground maintenance work.
15. May assist in the orientation and training of less experienced staff.

     16. Performs a variety of incidental support duties such as assisting in other operations as needed.
     17. May be required to perform relief water duty.
     18. Performs related duties as required.

• Basic methods, tools, techniques and materials used in the construction, maintenance, repair, inspection and cleaning of water treatment, water conveyance, irrigation, and drainage facilities.
• Safe and effective operation and use of a variety of vehicles and light mechanical equipment and various tools and equipment employed in repair and maintenance.
• Specialized power-driven pipeline inspection, maintenance, and repair equipment.
• Safety precautions and practices necessary in working with hand tools and mechanical equipment.

• Perform a variety of basic labor, unskilled and semiskilled work in construction, repair, inspection, cleaning and maintenance of canals, ditches, pipelines, pumps, structures, and confined spaces, tanks, towers, and related facilities.
• Perform heavy manual labor.
• Safely and efficiently operate a variety of vehicles, light mechanical equipment, and hand and power tools.
• Operate construction and specialized equipment and perform basic tasks.
• Follow written and oral instructions.
• Read and write at the level required for successful job performance
• Work unusual shifts, weekends, evenings, holidays and on standby status when required.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  

• Maximum Achievable Bonus is $2,500.00
• First payout on (TBD) payroll = $1,000
• Second payout at the end of the project = $1,500

• Must be actively employed at the time of the payout(s).
• No prorated bonus for terminated employees.
• No missed workdays during payout periods.
• No at fault injuries/accidents.
• Prorated bonus available only to employees active for entire payout period based upon actual days scheduled.
