Supervisor: Construction Supervisor  

Department: Construction 

Type: Spring - Fall / Seasonal

Position Overview: Perform carpentry and construction work involving physical labor completing building, concrete work, demolition, heavy construction, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Carpentry, framing, siding, and drywall.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Control foot and construction traffic in and around work zones.
  • Dig ditches/trenches, backfill or compact earth.
  • Erect / dismantle ladder, scaffolding, ramps, braces or other temporary structures.
  • Load / unload and identify building materials, machinery, tools, and distribute them to appropriate locations according to project plans or specifications.
  • Measure, mark, and record distances.
  • Position or dismantle and assist in pouring concrete.
  • Use general construction tools including but not limited to saws, hammers, drills, etc..
  • Read plans, instructions or specifications to understand work activities.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilities.
  • General labor duties.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform the job and get along with others.
  • Work together with all departments to build a positive working environment. 
  • Show up to work on time, consistent attendance, and dependable.
  • Physically perform the essential job functions of this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Factors:

  • Frequently exposed to high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold / heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration; working with ladders and scaffolding; all types of weather; stinging plants; and wild animals.
  • Constantly standing, walking, bending, rotating, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and kneeling on uneven and steep terrain.
  • Constant exposure to hazards associated with machinery and tools.
  • Sight and hearing of acceptable standards for Essential Job Functions.
  • Sitting infrequently. 
  • Manual dexterity and fitness to work with tools continuously. 
  • Repetitive use of hands, arms, shoulders, back, and legs frequently.
  • Lifting and carrying to waist level of up to 50 lbs. frequently and occasionally 50-90 lbs. assisted, and above shoulder lifting and / or carrying of up to 20 lbs.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced skill in operating and control of hand tools (tape measure, hammer, utility knife, etc.).
  • Intermediate skill with battery and electrical operation tools to include but not limited to: saws, jack hammers, drills, etc.
  • Advanced skill in framing, carpentry, siding and drywall.
  • Identify safety hazards and either direct the Supervisor’s attention to them or safely remove them.
  • Identify and use proper PPE to include hard hats, gloves, eye protection and boots.
  • Climb scaffolding and ladders and work at heights.
  • Attention to detail to safely complete work tasks correctly.
  • Reliable and dependable in showing up on time and ready to work to complete tasks accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Work well under pressure, problem solve, and multitask.
  • Intermediate math skills.
  • Understanding of company policies and practices.
  • Organized and attention to detail.
  • Reliable transportation.

Education / Experience:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years previous construction experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
