Job Summary
The 92NY Flying Dolphins Swim Team (YFD), located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is seeking enthusiastic and experienced Lead Coach and Assistant Swim Coaches to support our Age Group Program.
Our coaches play an important role in developing young swimmers by providing high-quality instruction, promoting strong technique, and creating a positive and motivating team environment. Successful candidates will enjoy working with young athletes and collaborate effectively with fellow coaches, swimmers, and parents.
These are part-time, hourly positions with a schedule based on assigned practices, swim meets, and team needs. The position includes a May Center Gym Membership.

Job Responsibilities Include
- Teach and reinforce proper swimming technique, including stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and finishes.
- Assist swimmers to develop their skills, confidence, fitness, and competitive abilities.
- Provide positive, constructive, and individualized feedback to support each athlete’s development.
- Support a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, respect, and enjoyment of the sport.
- Collaborate with other members of the coaching staff to implement the team’s training plans and coaching philosophy.
- Communicate professionally and appropriately with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaches.
- Attend assigned swim meets and team events, as needed, and assist with warm-ups, race preparation, and athlete feedback.
- Maintain a safe, organized, inclusive, and supportive environment during all practices and team activities.
- Serve as a positive role model for young athletes and represent 92NY and YFD professionally.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired
The ideal candidate will have:
- Candidates must attain USA Swimming Coaches certification, Coaches Safety Training, CPR & First Aid and pass USA Swimming background check prior to starting duties on deck. Previous competitive swimming and/or swim coaching experience.
- Experience working with children and age-group swimmers.
- Knowledge of swimming fundamentals and the ability to teach proper stroke technique, starts, turns, and finishes.
- The ability to work effectively with swimmers of varying ages, abilities, and competitive levels.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills.
- A positive and collaborative approach to working with athletes, parents, and fellow coaches.
- The ability to provide clear instruction and constructive feedback in a supportive manner.
Work Environment & Requirements
This is a part-time position. Coaches will be scheduled based on the needs of the Age Group Program and may work a combination of weekday practices, evening practices, and weekend swim meets or team events.
Candidates should be able to maintain consistent availability for their assigned coaching schedule throughout the swim season.
Per Diem Compensation Range
$25–$30 per hour
The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicant’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and, where applicable, the location in which the applicant resides and/or from which they will be performing the position.
