Organization / Role Description

Schwab is seeking a driven, results-oriented Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead who shares our passion for technology, innovation, engineering excellence, and delivering exceptional client experiences. The Senior Engineer will be a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable, resilient, and secure software solutions that power critical business capabilities. This role requires deep technical expertise, architectural thinking, strong leadership skills, and the ability to partner across product, architecture, operations, and engineering teams to accelerate innovation while maintaining operational excellence.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

•            Lead the design, development, and delivery of highly scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise applications and services.•            Architect and develop cloud-native solutions leveraging modern platforms such as AWS, Azure, or hybrid-cloud environments.•            Design and implement RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and microservices that enable seamless integration across enterprise platforms.•            Build and support streaming and real-time data processing applications using technologies such as Kafka, Event Hubs, or equivalent messaging platforms.•            Work closely with product owners and team members to decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks.•            Prototype, validate and create specific application solutions for business.•            Lead a team in execution of development pipeline and delivery of the organization’s software products to Production.•            Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the industry, market trends, and competitive landscape, and apply strategic business insights to benefit the team.•            Identify technology risks and dependencies early to establish mitigation plans.•            Mentor and develop team members, fostering their understanding of industry and marketplace dynamics.•            Apply broad knowledge and skills within your area of expertise and consider the wider company impact to resolve complex issues. Actively seek out new methods and technologies to enhance work outcomes and drive innovation.•            Coordinate with team members in the designated business area to review and adjust strategies for application maintenance and support activities.•            Support integration efforts to build whole systems from various subsystems•            Support release manager to assemble releases and drive improvements in the release process•            Demonstrate the ability to tailor written content for different stakeholders and purposes, ensuring clarity, coherence, and persuasiveness.

 

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise and Educational Requirements

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field• Minimum of 10 years of solid backend development experience in C#/.Net• Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a development team and successfully delivering complex projects within timelines• Strong understanding of API-first development, service contracts, OpenAPI specifications, and system integration patterns.• Experience with event-driven and streaming architectures using Kafka, Confluent, Azure Event Hubs, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.• Expert with frameworks such as .NET, .NET Core, ASP.NET and understanding of UML (Unified Modeling Language)• Strong experience in building enterprise scale web solutions based upon n-tier architecture using open-source technologies (Angular / React), Microsoft Web API, and SQL / No-SQL Databases.• Strong experience and demonstrate proficiency in web-based technologies such as Angular/React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, jQuery, Backbone, Bootstrap, Node or similar• Expert in object-oriented design, SOA, design patterns, development, implementation and maintenance.• Exceptional experience designing and implementing REST based Web Service API(s) in a transaction processing environment.▪ Develops solutions and coordinates with teams to enhance application support▪ Enhances processes to ensure legal and ethical data compliance• Skilled in breaking down epics into stories and engaging with stakeholders.• Strong experience in Cloud Native Applications and Micro Services Architecture• Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards, Guidelines and SOLID principles• You should be comfortable in a fast-paced customer-focused environment that continually embraces the latest technologies and techniques.• Thorough understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.• Self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems• Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various levels of technical and non-technical management
