Nephrologist Opportunity — Duluth, Minnesota

 

Essentia Health is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Nephrologist to join an established, collaborative nephrology team in Duluth, Minnesota. This is an excellent full-scope nephrology opportunity within a large tertiary care system serving a regional population of approximately 460,000.

 

This position offers a competitive compensation package starting at $450,000, with additional earning potential through bonuses, quality incentives, and/or production-based compensation.

 

Opportunity Highlights

• Join an established team of 5 nephrologists
• 1:6 call schedule with supplemental casual/locum coverage support as needed
• Full-scope nephrology practice, including clinical nephrology, hypertension, dialysis, ICU nephrology, and post-transplant care
• Hospitalists serve as the admitting service; nephrology functions as a consultative service
• Inpatient practice at SMDC Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center, a combined 500-bed tertiary care hospital complex
• EPIC EMR used in both clinic and hospital settings
• Strong support team, including RNs, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Nurse Practitioners
• Medical directorship opportunities associated with outpatient dialysis units
• Work within Essentia Health’s East Market, which includes nearly 1,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians across all major medical and surgical specialties

 

Practice Details

 

The nephrology practice includes a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services, including:

 

• Clinical nephrology
• Hypertension management
• Post-transplant care
• Acute dialysis services
• ICU nephrology
• Apheresis
• Plasmapheresis
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
• Home hemodialysis
• CAPD and CCPD

 

The dialysis population is approximately 300 patients, supported by dialysis units in the Duluth/Twin Ports area and multiple satellite locations throughout the region. Dialysis sites are located in communities including:

 

• Duluth, MN
• Hermantown, MN
• Virginia, MN
• Grand Rapids, MN
• Hibbing, MN
• Cloquet, MN
• Ashland, WI
• Hayward, WI

 

Outreach consultative services are provided at 3 Twin Ports clinics and 6 regional clinic locations.

 

Requirements

 

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology
• Eligible for medical licensure in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin
• Current fellows and experienced nephrologists are encouraged to apply

 

Location: Duluth, Minnesota

Compensation

 

Starting compensation is $450,000. Hired candidates may also be eligible for additional compensation through bonuses, quality incentives, and/or production-based compensation.
