Behavioral Health Rep II - Job Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-4:30PM) | Hybrid

Bring your behavioral health or clinical experience to a role where your compassion, organization, and follow-through help patients receive timely, coordinated care. As a Bilingual Behavioral Health Representative II, you will work closely with on-site Behavioral Health providers—especially Psychiatrists—to support patient rooming, referrals, risk assessments, care management, and thoughtful communication between patients and providers.

You will join a collaborative clinic team where every interaction can make a difference in a patient’s behavioral health journey. Along with supporting patients and providers, you will assist the Behavioral Health Supervisor, contribute to training and one-on-one shadowing, and help strengthen access to essential community healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to on-site Behavioral Health providers, with a focus on Psychiatrists.
• Take patient vitals and complete patient rooming.
• Manage referrals to providers.
• Screen new and existing patients using risk assessments.
• Take responsibility for patient care management.
• Communicate by phone with providers and patients.
• Assist the Behavioral Health Supervisor with duties as assigned.
• Perform Behavioral Health Representative II duties in addition to all Behavioral Health Representative I duties and provide coverage as needed.
• Manage efforts surrounding BI reporting.
• Obtain collateral patient information from schools and other providers or hospitals as needed.
• Process external referrals in a timely manner.
• Ensure all referrals are completed and relevant documents are included in the medical record, including documentation related to Neurology, speech therapy, cardiology, and other services.
• Review the schedule daily to ensure all pre-visit preparations have been completed before the patient’s visit.
• Ensure lab and imaging results, consultation reports, care transition details, and significant changes in health status are available in the patient’s medical record.
• Call patients, consultants, imaging centers, and hospitals to arrange timely delivery of missing information when documents are not present in the medical record.
• Call patients who are deemed to be at risk for a “no-show” before their appointment.
• Coordinate with the BHC or Primary Care Physician (PCP) to schedule “urgent” patients for psychiatry or therapy appointments.
• Assist with training new hires, including one-on-one shadowing.
• Assist with patient complaints when the Behavioral Health Supervisor is unavailable.
• Assist with triaging behavioral health emergencies in the clinic as needed, staff with the appropriately licensed provider, and handle emergencies according to Behavioral Health policies and procedures.
• Attend required mandatory all-staff meetings.
• Provide data entry, general office duties, and administrative support for Behavioral Health at the clinical site.
• Cross-cover remotely and travel to other locations for coverage as needed.
• Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
• Promote effective working relationships and work effectively as part of a team to help the department meet its goals and objectives.
• Attend all required safety training programs and describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
• Attend all required safety education programs.
• Operate assigned equipment and safely perform all procedures as instructed.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in the condition required by Legacy standards.
• Demonstrate proper body mechanics in all functions.
• Check the patient’s environment and equipment to ensure safety.
• Report safety concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
• Follow Legacy’s exposure control plans and bloodborne and airborne pathogen precautions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of techniques, procedures, and the correct use of protective barrier equipment, including Universal Precautions.
• Assure a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
• Attend annual education programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school preferred; or one year related experience required
• BLS (CPR & AED) Certified

Required Years of Experience

• One year of Behavioral health or clinical experience required.

Desirable Education and Experience

• Two years of Behavioral health experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Good direct and telephone communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a team setting
• Leadership ability for program management, growth, and development within the Center and the Community.
• Communication/interpersonal skills to interact courteously and professionally with associates and customers of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Knowledge of and the ability to interact effectively with various community agencies and resources.
• Coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
• Computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and decision-making responsibilities.
• Bilingual English and Spanish speaking required
