Electrical Engineer

WEG has an immediate career opportunity for a progressive, forward thinking, analytical, disciplined, and organized Electrical Engineer in McHenry, IL for our DC products division – RAE DC products. This position is suited to an Electrical Engineer who thrives on delivering high quality, accurate results, while efficiently maintaining and enhancing existing organizational systems and standards.

As a member of the technical staff, the electrical engineer is responsible for the design of new electric motors based of customer specifications, technical support of mature products currently in production, utilizing modern engineering systems and technologies, and also analyzing and improving old ones.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and design new electric motors to meet customer specifications.
• Run dynamometer tests to validate new products, design improvements and root cause analysis. 
• Provide customer support for existing products.
• Evaluate existing motor designs to improve the manufacturability of the motor.
• Elaborate/maintain technical engineering specification/documentation for manufacturing and sales/customers.
• Work with other engineers and departments to improve the product and solve quality/process issues.
• Lead projects to improve engineering tools and processes used to design electric motors.
• Evaluate/approve new materials/parts for development/deviations.
• Provide technical support to other functional areas as needed.

Requirements

· B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

· 3-5 years’ experience in PMDC and wound-field DC motors design and manufacturing.

· Experience with use/application DC motor control – SCR, PWM, open and closed loop variable speed control.

· Knowledge of BLDC motor design is a differential .

· Motor design software experience e.g. SPEED, Infolytica, ANSYS RMxprt, or equivalent.

· Familiarity with business software (Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

· Experience with SAP - PLM module is desirable.

· Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on product quality.

· Proven experience in project coordination.

· Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks and good judgment on prioritization in a very dynamic environment. 

· Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities. This requires climbing stairs and moving over, around, and about shop machinery. Have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

· Flexibility to eventual travel (domestic and international) to customers, conferences, suppliers.

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing both internally & with customers.

· Ability to learn quickly and thoroughly while recognizing and adapting to changing conditions.
