Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

Blue Origin is seeking a Test Operations Engineer I to join the AI&T team on the Terawave program. In this entry-level role you will support the execution of space vehicle-level development and  qualification environmental test campaigns — including TVAC, vibration, acoustic, and functional testing — under the guidance of senior test engineers. You will build hands-on spacecraft test operations experience while contributing to the qualification of satellites for high-rate production.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Support test campaign execution under the supervision of senior test engineers; perform assigned test steps and record results accurately.

• Assist with hardware setup, cable reconfigurations, test fixture assembly, and consumables management for environmental test campaigns.

• Perform pre-test and post-test equipment checks, functional verifications, and test article visual inspections.

• Support environmental test article installation and de-installation in test chambers and on vibration fixtures.

• Document test anomalies clearly and completely; escalate off-nominal observations to senior engineers promptly.

• Support procedure red-line mark-up incorporation and documentation updates following test execution.

• Maintain bench orderliness, configuration accountability, and ESD/FOD compliance.

• Participate in test briefings, anomaly reviews, and lessons-learned sessions.

• Learn and develop competency in test operations, environmental test methods, and data interpretation under mentorship of senior engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.

• 0–2 years of experience in hardware test, vehicle integration, test support, or a related hands-on technical role; relevant internship or co-op experience accepted.

• Demonstrated ability to follow detailed technical procedures carefully and completely.

• Eagerness to learn spacecraft test operations, environmental test methods, and bench procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data recording.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document observations clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship or project experience with spacecraft, launch vehicle, or complex mechanical/electrical systems test.

• Exposure to environmental test environments (thermal, vibration, acoustic, or vacuum chambers).

• Familiarity with test instrumentation and data acquisition systems.

• Academic or project background with aerospace structures, avionics, or vehicle systems.

• Experience with ESD-sensitive hardware handling.

• Familiarity with configuration management or document control tools.

 

Base Pay Range for:

CO applicants is $74,537.00 - $104,351.10 WA applicants is $81,313.00 - $113,837.85

• Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
