Job Summary

Our Express Care team is seeking a per diem Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing team. We provide convenient walk-in care for patients seven days a week, with no appointment necessary.

Our centers are open:
• Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Per Diem APPs are required to work 2 shifts per month or 6 shifts per quarter and must be willing to rotate among all four Express Care locations based on staffing needs.

Our Express Care centers are located at:
• 30 Locust Street, Northampton, MA 01060
• 12 College Highway, Southampton, MA 01073
• 170 University Drive, Amherst, MA 01002
• 489 Bernardston Road, Greenfield, MA 01301

Express Care provides treatment for patients 18 months of age and older. Onsite radiology and laboratory services, including blood draws, are available to support timely diagnosis and treatment.

Our APPs evaluate and treat a wide variety of non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries with skill, compassion, and efficiency, including:
• Cold, flu, and viral illnesses
• Respiratory infections
• Ear and eye infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Rashes and other minor skin conditions
• Cuts and minor lacerations
• Suturing and suture removal
• Minor burns
• Strains and sprains
• Minor fractures
• Incision and drainage of abscesses
• Sports and camp physicals
• Occupational medicine services, including drug testing

Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
