A Day in the Life:

Responsibilities

Development/ Pre Production

  • Coordinate daily communication with international factories and PD partners to align development progress with the NYC office and runway timelines.
  • Manage spec turnover within the calendar in partnership with design and cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of prototypes, SMS, and confirmation samples.
  • Execute pass-off of development information (PLM data, specs, BOMs) to manufacturing partners on behalf of design; maintain consistent daily communication.
  • Create, update, and issue BOMs and development specs within PLM with a high level of accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with overseas teams and suppliers to address questions and implement updates related to product definition and development changes.
  • Maintain and track all sample requests within PLM; follow up, monitor, and report on prototype status across all stages.
  • Participate in prototype and SMS reviews, document feedback and supporting follow-up actions with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain PLM data accuracy and completeness to support development tracking and reporting.
  • Track development progress against KPIs and maintain master tracking charts.

Runway-Specific Development Responsibilities

  • Maintain a centralized digital database in PLM as the single source of truth for all global factories.
  • Own and manage heel heights, construction specs, and hardware data within PLM, ensuring consistency across factories.
  • Ensure all data entered PLM aligns with the appropriate stage of development, maintaining accuracy and avoiding premature or redundant entries.
  • Maintain and link material and hardware references in PLM for runway and production-confirmed styles, ensuring alignment from design through production.
  • Manage hardware sample records in PLM, and oversee physical hardware samples only once confirmed for production to ensure factory execution accuracy.

Calendar & Tracking

  • Maintain and monitor development calendars in partnership with factories to ensure timely prototype delivery and adherence to runway deadlines.
  • Track all inbound and outbound shipments (DHL, FedEx, etc.) and provide regular status updates to the team; escalate risks as needed in collaboration with PD leadership and import/export partners.

Fittings & Development Support

  • Support fittings by capturing detailed, real-time notes on design feedback, including aesthetic adjustments and proportion changes.
  • Document and communicate all fitting feedback to cross-functional teams; support follow-up actions led by PD and technical partners.

Show Execution (Runway)

  • Support all backstage preparation and execution, including:
  • Organizing, labeling, and preparing final shoes
  • Assisting with styling and lineup coordination
  • Preparing backstage kits (fit kits, emergency kits, etc.)
  • Pre- and Post-show footwear sample coordination, tracking, collection, and allocation between PR and Design teams, ensuring accurate organization and accountability of walked and non-walked samples.

Production

  • Support transition from SMS to production specs within PLM, ensuring all finalized data is accurate and complete.
  • Track confirmation samples and coordinate reviews to ensure final alignment with approved design.
  • Support tracking of marketing and campaign sample requests, ensuring accuracy prior to handoff.
