[What the role is]
With expertise in quantitative methodologies spanning the entire data lifecycle, the individual will work closely with other business users to enhance understanding of Singapore's visitors, markets and tourism products. The individual will play a pivotal role in using data to guide planning and/or strategies of stakeholders, helping to refine and address business problems as well as identify opportunities of growth for Singapore’s tourism industry. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of the data lifecycle, including research design, data collection, data cleaning and management, carrying out data analytics, distilling key insights and producing data visualisations/dashboards.[What you will be working on]
1. Data Analytics
a) Apply statistical techniques to process and analyse datasets. This includes working with large, complex datasets and multiple data sources.
b) Perform data wrangling and transformation to prepare raw data into analysis-ready formats, applying statistical/ data analytics techniques to extract insights from data, and utilising data visualisation tools to communicate findings effectively.
c) Translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
d) To deliver insights that addresses business questions.
2. Project and Reporting Management
a) Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage the data and ensure relevance of data collected, data quality as well as compliance to data management guidelines.
b) Act as a data custodian to key datasets managed by the team, serving as the in-house subject matter expert.
c) Collaborate with stakeholders as relevant to ensure smooth project delivery and implementation.
d) Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as business analysts, product managers, stakeholders to integrate and deploy and transform appropriate data feeds into reports, insights and dashboards on visualisation platforms.
3. Tracking, Stakeholder Management & Advisory
a) Prepare and manage relevant tourism performance data compilation, tracking, reporting and analysis.
b) Understand key business and research outcomes of stakeholders and provide relevant advice and/or support.
c) Provide sound quantitative data advisory, such as in areas of data collection and manipulation approaches, data quality, data management and analysis.
4. Data Capability
a) Lead, manage and drive greater use of data among business users to answer business questions.
b) To share best practices within the organisation with the aim of uplifting data capability.
[What we are looking for]
· Trained in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics or a related quantitative discipline
· At least 5 years of relevant working experience in data collection, data pre-processing, data wrangling, data analytics and data visualisation, with proven track record in carrying out more advanced data analytics.
· Strong analytical skills with a good eye for detail and possess an aptitude/experience in solving strategic and/or analytical problems using quantitative approaches
· Strong organisation, project and time management skills
· Ability to integrate and synthesise research and/or data across multiple sources to derive meaningful conclusions that are relevant to business needs
· Experience in modelling, creating, editing and publishing dashboards using visualisation tools, such as QlikSense and QuickSight is advantageous
· Ability to communicate clearly complex data/concepts and outcomes of analysis so that learnings can be translated into strategies
· Working experience in managing research and analytics projects
· Experience working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is advantageous
· Strong presentation and communication skills with ability to express complex ideas in a layman manner
· Mature and comfortable presenting to and interacting with senior management
· Proven track record in engaging stakeholders from within and outside of the organisation
· Strong command of written and spoken English
· Possess statistical knowledge and comfortable working with numbers
· Proficient in data manipulation and usage of analytics tools e.g. R, Python, SQL
· Proficient in Advanced Excel and Power Pivot
· Working experience in QuickSight will be advantageous
