Description
The IT Technician provides technical support to employees and District customers by troubleshooting and resolving software, hardware, and connectivity problems, including printer, copier and Help Desk support in District facilities. The position also enforces network endpoint setup integrity, configurations, firewall and antivirus settings using specialized software. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of PC hardware installation, repair, testing and troubleshooting.
This is a non-remote position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Answers, evaluates, and prioritizes service requests received via telephone, voice mail, e-mail, and in-person for user’s computer performance.
- Provide end user support to District employees, including software, hardware, printer configuration, and training.
- Provides support for the District’s externally facing websites to include page updates, setup changes, new edits and user security on the system.
- Administers the Districts software, desktop computers, printer hardware and peripherals by performing set up, maintenance, and testing; troubleshooting; applying upgrades; and providing training and advice as needed.
- Configures and maintains the District’s internal device management system, ensuring proper operating system, PC firewall and antivirus configuration settings are compliant with District Policy.
- Coordinates preventative maintenance and vendor services as necessary.
- Maintain District communication systems including: IP based, District owned cellular and employee Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program.
- Investigate network and computing device hardware problems and performs minor system hardware and communication connection repairs.
- User Account creation (active directory, office 365, Exchange)
- Provide documentation, status reports, and communicate progress of IT Requests.

Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and up to one year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Windows operating systems, desktop hardware and software preferred.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365. Knowledge of Windows, networking systems, PC hardware, and PC software including spreadsheets, word processing, IP based phone systems, iOS devices, PowerShell, and data base structure required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb stairs, bend, reach, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and sit for extended periods of time. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Required to speak clearly and hear well when communicating over the telephone and in person.
