Role & Responsibilities
The Courseware and Media Capability team is seeking a Configuration and Data Practitioner as part of a programme engineering team to undertake activities within a major training project. The Configuration and Data Practitioner will be responsible for the implementation and management of all processes around the control of information and data. A wide experience of configuration management is required, as this role will involve complex data arrangements both within Raytheon UK and its sub-contractors. The Configuration and Data Practitioner will work with the project’s configuration and data management team, currently.
The successful candidate will also be called upon to provide support to the wider Raytheon UK business when required. Reporting to the Head of Training and the Configuration Data Lead, the role will require occasional travel to interact with key stakeholder across the programme.
The Configuration and Data Practitioner will support the Systems Engineering Lead as required.
Responsibilities
- Technical leadership of all Configuration Management processes on the project to ensure CM compliance. This includes the configuration planning, identification, control, status accounting and auditing for development and operational systems.
- Lead programme start-up and change activities including tailoring, estimating effort, establishing configuration processes, tool set selection, establishing data management repositories and regular governance and execution meetings.
- Define and administer release management in the context of structured and unstructured data, including establish release management activities and toolsets, ensuring release requirements are defined and met, generating baselines, managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead application of release management, including establishing release management activities and toolsets, ensuring release requirements are defined and met, generating baselines, managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement and process simplification across the programme in conjunction with the profession lead.
- Lead a team of configuration and data managers, ensuring work is delivered on time and to budget.
- Be ‘Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement’.
- Any other duties required to meet the needs of the programme.
Required experience
- Frequent use and application of Configuration and Knowledge Management principles, theories and concepts on large or complex projects.
- Detailed working knowledge of Def Stan 05-57 or equivalent
- A working knowledge of CMMI and ISO 9000 requirements
- Familiarity with tailored process creation and introduction using current CM methodology, establishing guidelines and rules for all functions/levels and the introduction of suitable toolsets to enable successful configuration management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work out of hours on occasion.
- Possessed of, or capable of obtaining, SC.
Desirable experience
- Experience in complex solutions for large government organisations or private corporations using a diverse engineering and technology team.
- Experience of Configuration Management tool migration projects.
- Experience of leading and delivering structured improvement projects.
- Proficient in the evaluation of programme documents for impact to CM processes.
